Well I'm up to £96.25 already out of £160! Looking at what I bought yesterday, there were things that could have been cheaper, but we do have quite a few meals in now, so hopefully won't have to go for a while.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

Hi all,
Count me in too! I've kept a food budget tally before and when I was keeping track tried to keep the budget to around £75 per week (2 adults + 3 cats). That includes toiletries, laundry stuff, alcohol and takeaways. But I'm going to set a stricter goal of £60 per week for November because we have few "£10 off £30" coupons to use at Tesco also will use a "£15 off £50" coupon at the Tesco wine store to replenish our supply.
We eat a LOT of fruit and veg, much of it organic, so that is the bulk of our grocery bill.
Just finished making a couple batches of "almost-free" applesauce... apples were free (growing wild or from tree of neighbour who didn't want them) but had to pay for citrus juice/zest that went in with one batch. Other batch was with blackberries (also free, picked months ago and kept in freezer). Oh, and a bit of sugar to sweeten.I want to move to theory. Everything works in theory.0 -
Did my shop of the week today, and did pretty well I think - £60 and a few p.
Spent £136 so far out of £250. have already got nappies for the month and persil and dishwasher tabs so if I can do a normal shop next week and a storecupboard challenge thingy the ast week we should be well under budget :jJan GC: £202.65/£450 (as of 4-1-12)

i used to do this by keeping my weekly budget in an envelope and writing what i had spent on it... used to be £40 a week for me, my son and his dad so I think it worked even though people where i shopped probably thought 'its that crazy envelope girl again...' lol
don't have a clue what i spend now, doh...Feb 2008 Grocery challenge £101.74 (budget £150)

I reallyhave to kick myself into gear. I have been so lax with this.
So my goal is £200 this month including petrol, for myself, son (4) and Daughter (10) This includes packed lunches too. The investment in the slow cooker has made a great difference, so i think a lot of stews and casseroles this month now its cold.0 -
Will be doing a second shop (because I forgot some things on the online shop ) this weekend instore and I want to use the clothes coupons I have to get some christmas presents. Will update total afterwards.
Does anyone else enjoy going food shopping now? It used to be a weekend chore but I find myself really looking forward to it now. I think it's the challenge of getting more for less.
I really need to get out more and not to tescos :rotfl: :rotfl:MFiT Member No 85

1st week - £122.61:eek:   How on earth did that happen?
think the costco trip had something to do with it.
Ok then - makes things tighter for the rest of the month - but not impossible."You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me." - C.S. Lewis0
