car accident & drink driving

I think drink driving is utterly wrong and indefensible, but this thread has made me very grateful that guilt and punishment are decided by due legal process rather than certain judgmental MSE members.
I do hope that those clambering so quickly onto their high horses NEVER break the speed limit, even by a little. I am sure they neither undertake on the motorway, nor do they drive too closely to the cars in front of them.
The OP came on here in good faith for a little advice, not to be held in kangaroo court by a bunch of 'curtain twitchers'
Rant over.... :mad:0 -

Policeman "Sir have you been drinking"
Motorist "Yes"
Policemen "How many units have you had"
Motorist "I am married and its Christmas with the in laws"
Policeman "It'll be more of a punishment if I let you proceed then to arrest you, on your way sir"
Motorist 'Fcuking !!!!"
Policeman "That won't work either, on your way Sir"

I started driving in the late 1970s. At that time it was generally agreed that most people drove better after a few pints.
Happy days.
I dont need to drink & drive, but I know I do almost everything better after a couple of pints.
It always amazed me that a couple of pints would cost me my license, but driving home after a night shift was OK (half asleep at the wheel radio blaring windows wide open)0 -
You don't see the contradiction in saying "have nothing" and "he had 1 pint of shandy" (i.e half a pint of beer)?
So, those that are condeming the OP, what should people do in this scenario:- You have 2 pints of 3.5% beer, should you drive?
If it was a lager shandy, over 6%, it would have been the same as a pint of bitter. Not exactly nothing in that case.0 -
I'm planning on driving on Friday so I shouldn't drink alcohol between now and then?
I also should ensure I don't get addicted to mouthwash between then unless I can find the solicitor I know my ABC and my CMYK mentioned in their post
After reading the above ridiculous comment i can only assume you are drinking NOW !!!The loopy one has gone :j0 -

It actually isn't but it's harder for the police to find something to charge you with unless you cause a major accident.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Some of your previous comments have been ridiculous due to their generalisations.
You clearly don't understand factors involving alcohol being eliminated for someone's system.
And no after last nights Christmas Party I'm drinking nothing tonight. I won't actually drink until Wednesday but then I expect that pint to be out of my system by Friday. Then I won't drink any alcohol after Wednesday until Boxing Day due to having to drive.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

I detest drink drivers.. absolute scum of the earth. They put everyones life at risk without a care in the world.
The OP deserves all they get, and I bloody hope it's a lengthy prison sentence with a nutcase of a cell mate.
A dear friend of mine was killed by a drink driver and there is absolutely no excuse for going behind the wheel after consuming alcohol. We’ve had to remove your signature. I'm sorry about your friend, but do you really want to lock up someone who hasn't committed a crime? We don't even lock up people that have committed crimes!!!0
