So glad I no longer do credit

Well I have just come back form ASDA and oh my god for the first time ever have I realized just how dangerous Credit Cards are :eek: People are crazy, 2 trolleys stapped high three trolleys deep at the till £485.78 one woman spent and when the cashier said that should see you through to the New Year  her reply was oh no dear I will be back on Wednesday:eek: Well then she said I don't have to worry about it ubtil the last week of Jan  I felt like saying something but didn't........ The point I am trying to make I guess is that 2 years ago that was MEEE:eek: Now I will never borrow again, I am free, even thought we will not have a lot this Christmas at least I know I have paid for it. What was the song? Hey lady please lady don't just walk away......... Also people panic buying because we have a bit of snow
If you woke up this morning congratulations, you have another chance :j

I know. This is our second Christmas without credit and it's really quite an an opener to realise you can still enjoy the planning and gift buying without credit with a bit of planning. I've been saving for Christmas all year, been buying gifts since the summer and catch a bargain when I see one. Christmas for us is all paid for and complete. No debt, no stress in the new year.

I think for those on the cusp of bankruptcy and maybe lurking in fear of what they may have to do in the new year, to realise that this is the kind of positives bankruptcy brings. A complete new start. A new way of controlling your own finances and make your finances work for you and your needs. :)

    Hi Now

Yes i understand your post so well. This is my first year without any credit at all so i have found it interesting to say the least.. i deal in cash only, i withdraw from the bank or buiding society and i have to do what everyone should do and its BUDGET BUDGET BUDGET! I havent gone BR yet so have had practice for a few months now and youre right, whatever I have under the tree this year is paid for already not 6 or 12 months down the round. For some reason, i think the supermarkets are the worst places to be as it adds up far too quickly!!

    Lots of love

I just was so amazed by them all one women said to her husband oj no dear its no good getting that jacket its only £65  I nearly said a jacket is a jacket so long as it keeps you warm.............Go to Primark I love itI spent £28 and got something for everyone..........They have totally lost the plot as to what Christmas is about. It is not about how much you have spent but the thought that has gone into it xx Credit free me is how I want to stay:j I used to feel ashamed about my BR but now I feel as though I am a free person no longer tied to a bank. I felt like getting some leaflets printed and hand them out to people as they enter the store just explaining if you have x amount of debt and you don;t pay it off this is how long it will take you to pay it back

  • I am so with you, I have cut up my credit cards (apart from one, which is at zero but needed to pay for flights etc, but it will be paid off in full). All of my shopping has been done in cash, on the nail, no credit charges for me, no horrendous CC bills in January. Been there, done that, never again. If I can't afford it, I will save up for it or do without, simples!

Glad to hear it, I now feel proud when I say to my freinds that I do not do credit, they do look at me strange as they must think I have won the lottery or something lol xx no more for me :T:T

This thread made me chuckle....I stopped using any cards when I gave up work early last year...and although there is a month by month worry that the sales won't cover the expenses, it's nice to know that what we've bought has been paid for, before we got it :)

Also lucky that we sell the kind of things that people buy a lot of at Christmas so we can afford a few treats and presents for each other - having said that I stopped buying cards years ago (I just tell people it's against my eco friendly policy) - and I don't have a lot of friends and family to buy for...

It's been snowing here - and we had no orders to get out - so it's starting to feel like Christmas to me :)

Might crack open the Bailey's <----on offer at ASDA :)
