Ford KA Blowers question

hi everyone,

my sisters has a 52 plate Ford Ka and her blowers will only chuck out cold air. apparently it is something to do with the heat valves a garage has said and quoted her £90 to fix it.

she can't really afford this on top of xmas and i wondered if there is anything else that can be done to try and fix it?

i know a Ka isn't the best choice of car - i had one until September, and i had a fair few problems with mine!

Usually the heater valve, £15 - £25 on ebay. Pretty simple to change. £90 is about dealer price to change.

Buy the valve from Ford, the other ones are well known for failing again.

If you can't afford it, you could remove the heater valve and bypass it with two small pieces of plumbers pipe.

i don't think she's keen on doing it, she hasn't a clue and wants it doing asap!

haha. she was told it's a common problem, but everytime i had a problem with mine i was told it was a 'common problem'...especially rusting and blistering around the petrol cap!!

Strangely enough my friend's KA will only blow out hot air!

Even in the summer hot air comes out of the vents!

That's the same problem, the valve has just stuck in the opposite position.

she lives in leeds so she isn't back for another week or so, i think she is going to take it to a garage.

thanks for your advice though

i think i gave her the best advice though - i told her to get rid and get a new car :P
