I have one but it's quite old (called 'lifestyle' or something?) and I've never had the book for it. I've tried a few recipes from on here but the loaves usually either rise way too big then collapse into a heavy stodgy lump or turn out as heavy stodgy lumps anyway. Back in the cupboard.
I'm sure it's me, I bet if I could get a copy of the manual I'd be rolling!0 -
Hi
Just realised the 2nd hand one I bought is missing the paddle !! No wonder it was cheap. Anyone know if its worth me trying to get a spare or should I scrap this one and try and save for a new one.One day the big prize will be mine!

I have a Hinari, although it is fairly old. I think I bought it about 8 or 9 years ago. It is a HB154.
I seem to remember at the start having a bit of trouble in that sometimes the bread would rise too much and overflow. I'm not really sure what I was doing wrong, but I never have any touble now and I think it is a great machine.
Not being very adventurous, I just use the recipes from the book that came with it. I have also made a cake in it and also have used it for making the bread dough for rolls and pizzas.0 -
I had a Hinari when they first came out, found the bread tasted very yeasty, you needed a whole sachet of yeast.I used mine to mix the dough and then knocked it back and did the second rise in a loaf tin, then cooked it in the oven. Cooked it the tin for 30 minutes then took it out of the tin and put it back in the oven for 15 minutes.
I sold it and bought a Panasonic which is fab, have had it for 3 years and make bread every other day with it.

Hi - I no longer qualify for membership of the Hinari Breadmaker club, but wondered if you had seen my earlier post on the Cheapest Decent Breadmaker thread?

Mine is an old Hinari too.
It does not bake good loaves.
A full size one will overflow and make a real mess of the inside of the breadmaker.
I still use it regularly though for pizza dough and naan bread. If I want to make bread,I put it on the dough settting then rise it and bake in the conventional oven.(I often do rolls ,so would have to do that anyway)
I'm hoping it will pack up soon so I can put a decent one on my Christmas list!0 -

Chipps, I just read your posting on the other thread. In the instruction book it clearly states that the bread pan should not be immersed in water, and certainly not put in the dishwasher. As it is non stick, all that it ever requires is a wipe over. If there is dough stuck to the paddle, I would put some water inside the pan to loosen it, but would never soak it my immersing it in water. My bread pan is quite sturdy, so seems like I have been lucky enough to get one of the good ones.0 -
I've also had trouble with the paddle. The non stick coating on it seems to have failed so it either gets stuck in the loaf or tears a chunk out of the bottom as the bread comes out of the tin. Still making bread OK though.0

So meadowcat & martindow are you making loaves successfully using the measurements given in the booklet that came with it? If so,which ones? Also, I wondered whether you followed the metric or imperial measurements? You should never call somebody else a nerd or geek because everybody (even YOU !!!) is an"anorak" about something whether it's trains, computers, football, shoes or celebs
