Hinari Breadmaker anyone else got one?!!!

Bought this BM because it seemed the cheapest and most reasonable one at the time but I've never seemed to be able to make a decent loaf with it consistently so I sort of lost interest in it.

Now I'm becoming a more active member of OS I would like to start using it again so anyone got any advice please?

There are BM clubs for other brands so if there are any other Hinari BM owners out there we could start one too?

  • Hi,

I had one of those, and it was fine for a while. Then nothing apart from the most basic white bread would rise at all, despite different yeasts, flour, additives and so on.

In the end it went in the bin, and I was given a Panasonic 253 for my birthday. The only failure I have had with that is when I have made a mistake.

    Regards,

    White.

I've got one. It was sitting in my cupboard for a couple years (at least) but I dug it out a few months ago and am now using it daily.

I haven't done anything fancy yet, just white and brown bread and some white rolls and it's fab.

Can't believe how much nicer HM bread is to the shop sliced loaf - even the kids agree!

Do you follow recipes as they are or do anything extra - I've heard some people talk about using warm water or crushing VitC tablets in to it - do you do anything like this?

Also which set of measurements do you follow grams or ounces?

I just follow the recipes in the book that came with it. I've substituted a couple of tablespoons of olive oil instead of the butter and it comes out fine.

I'm using ounces, force of habit really!

I have to say that when we first got the machine my husband used to make the bread. He turned it into a kind of macho ritual so I let him get on with it. Thing was that he liked to use the timer function and would pile the ingredients into the machine in the evening so we could wake up to the delicious smell of fresh bread in the morning. His loaves came out grey, odd-smelling and weighing a ton. After a little while the BM was banished to the back of the cupboard. I didn't realise the loaves weren't meant to be like that until I visited a friend and saw the ones she was turning out in her BM.

That was when I had a go myself without using the timer function and realised there was a whole future of successful breadmaking in front of me! Quite sad really...........

i had one and at first it was great. then it went faulty - one of the paddles kept coming off and getting stuck inside the loaf and not mixing it right. never got round to replacing it as i lost the receipt.
