When my late husband was alive he bought me a beautiful Christmas card one year, the words were so lovely, and he was a big softie at heart and as it was so nice I told him not to buy another the next year as I would save it . I did, and every year I used to get it out and put it on the side with the other cards I received.I would write the year on the back of it .When he sadly died in 2003 I carried on, but put it on a shelf in my bedroom and I feel when its there he's saying Happy Christmas JackieO.I still write the year on the back and it started in 1995 My children always ask me if I have still got it and I say yes of course.when I finally snuff it they know its to go with me as to me its a very special part of my late husband
JackieO - what a lovely way to remember your husband x x xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
After almost five years of the same car I have decided to replace it with a new one. This is mainly to take the slight worry off my mind that the exhaust/battery/tyres/ignition - you name it - might go wrong. Anyway, I have planned to pick up my new (exactly the same as the old) car on Saturday and suddenly realised there is at least half a tank of petrol in it. 200 miles. So before my lunch on Saturday I will be rushing off to the covered car boot sale about 20 miles away, in the full and certain knowledge that if I don't find a terrific bargain, it won't have cost me anything either. Now this one's really embarrassing....
My fiance seems to like my natural smell so I save a lot on deodorant when I stay with him at weekends... Ahem.
I can't remember the last time i used deodorant, years maybe? I use a body spray if im going out somewhere nice, but im still on the same can i bought 6 months ago.0 -

I think that is such a gorgeous idea. I might suggest it to my OH for next year - he always writes beautiful messages, so we could have a card with accumulated messages for several years. How lovely that you have a part of him still with you.
If at first you don't succeed, then sky-diving isn't for you0 -
Nice for everyone else then? I worked with a really smelly woman once who could clear a room at the moment she raised her arms - we all went into a tailspin worrying about how we were going to tell her that she stunk. In the end her manager had to step in. The poor soul didnt have a clue as to the effect she was having as she had no sense of smell!!!!I can't remember the last time i used deodorant, years maybe? I am not saying your smelly though of course!!!!! LOL0 -
In reality thats not embarrassing is it - just plain good old thrift!!! It would be awful if the person you had sent a letter with an old stamp on then had to pay the difference!! That would be embarrassing..LOL
I have a large collection from when I was younger; I bought every set and kept them in pristine condition. Recently I asked if they were still okay for their original purpose and was told that it's fine.0 -

I really really wish I could do that! It's taken me approx. 4 years to find an antiperspirant that stops me sweating so blooming much! Luckily I can get it cheapish in a certain discount shop so still OS
. And it wasn't one of those awful chemical laden ones that smell like theyd knock your cat out if it got a bit too close  Proud to be OS :j0 -
My DH and 3 x DS use the outside drain to pee in.....mainly because we have just the 1 toilet, and when it's in use - 'needs must'.
I just hope the neighbours don't look over the fence.
However, this must have saved us thousands by
1) not flushing, saving water and
2) not building the planned extension to include a downstairs cloakroom and an upstairs en suite.:rotfl:keep smiling,
