  • are we save left over condiment sachets however sometimes these do burst in my handbag  however the other day we had run out of sugar and luckily i had a sachet;),also my ds and dh come with me and use our tesco rewards in restaurants that normally we could not afford to go in my ds and dh have been trying to encourage me to order a tap water instead of paying for a cup of tea which if we all did this would be a totally free lunch but i get embarrassed when putting the order in with the waitress i know that sounds silly as she probably could nt care less what people ordered it don t help when son is pulling faces at me knowing that i feel uncomfortable:rotfl:

I also don't think that these posts are embarrassing (although I too draw the line at the old KFC soup... however one never knows anybody's true financial circumstances I guess). I would make soup from the bones of a chicken I had cooked though and I have to admit that I wouldn't re-use stamps. As for decanting shower gels etc into fancy bottles, I wouldn't be bothered with that. Take me as I am, I have no-one that I need impress!! Having said that I might just decant cheap wine/wiskey etc into a decanter .... just goes to show.

Funnily enough I'm planning on buying cheap decanters when I see them...to fill with cheap, brightly coloured shower gels...to brighten up and make private a large bathroom window. :D

Have to agree with everyone who reuses gift bags/wrapping paper - it's part of the traditional christmas activities in our house - all sitting around carefully sorting the reusable bits from the waste, rescuing bows etc. It's not just about moneysaving, it's about the waste. When I have friends who I know just tear and throw wrappings I always save the oldest tattiest papers for their presents - no bows - wouldn't waste anything good when I know it'll end up in the bin!

I can't bear the whole brand name goods thing, but I decant liquid soap in the downstairs loo into a glass pump thingy - just because it looks prettier. And decant and store a lot of food in the kitchen into stronger sealable containers for practicality reasons - things last much longer when kept in a proper container, rather than an opened packet - but it would work as a good way of hiding cheaper goods if your family are fussy as well! My grandma always had a lovely posh glass bottle that she kept her bubble bath in - again because it looked nice - but who's to know what's inside! My other grandma always bathed in fairy liquid and washed her pants out while she was in there:rotfl:

And as far as washing clothes goes - I always wear a different outfit to work every day, so it looks as though I'm wearing something fresh, but actually I keep wearing things until I spill something all down them - which usually happens sooner than the clothes getting stinky pits!

    Now this one's really embarrassing....

My fiance seems to like my natural smell so I save a lot on deodorant when I stay with him at weekends... Ahem.

That actually makes more sense than you may think, once you start factoring in pheromones etc :)

As it happens, I don't use deodorant/antiperspirant. I wash (shower) of course, and use perfume when I wish, but antiperspirants and (to a lesser extent) deos ravage my armpits. Sadly, my pores block at the slightest thing so unless I want agony, I steer clear! ;)
    On the up :D

Now I don't feel so bad about not using deodorant. He smelt it once and wrinkled his nose up bless him!
