I was only telling of my experience and interest. And if your water is not metered then no cost, water doesn't have to be warm. And clothes don't have to be washed = no water and no heating.
There are a lot of finger waggers in this thread
Aw. Let's not fall out, we could be neighbours. :wave:No finger wagging was intended at all.
Like you, I was only making an observation. Lovely idea, but for those of us on a water meter there would be a cost and of course you'd have to be pretty hardy to use the water straight from the mains onto your nether regions up here. Everyone would have to have their own towel too, so that would add to the washing.
Still, I'm saving a fortune on heating and hot water today. The boiler is leaking, so I've had to switch it off.0 -
I have enjoyed reading this thread.
My money saving tip is to keep old dish clothes and washing up brushes. The dish clothes I use when cleaning the hob. I spray the hob with hot water and a touch of washing up liquid and wipe first with the old cloth and throw it away and then finish off with a clean kitchen towel.
The old washing up brushes I keep for cleaning various things, i.e one for shoe soles another one for the detergent drawer for the washing machine. I have put a label on each brush to make sure they don't get mixed up.No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23

My hair grows so slowly! I have been wanting to donate to them for a while now, but by the time my hair gets long enough to donate, there are lots of split ends and they obviously can't use hair with too many split ends. I am contemplating a trim now, then hoping it will be long enough for a chop in the spring...Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0 -

I use old toothbrushes for cleaning my walking boots.
I've stopped putting washing powder in the drawer, it goes straight in the back of the drum. Stops the detergent building up in the drawer, cos I can never seem to get it clean!0 -
I don t have hundreds of pounds to spend on art but i like it to decorate my home and don t see why i should miss out just because i have a low income so canvas boards and paint are cheap to buy if you look about you can actually get a canvas board in the 99p shop in some towns. and then i set to work painting animals from the sea mostly sharks seahorses and fish and then i hang them up regardless of how well iv achieved to me i have worked jolly hard , the embarrassing part is if my husband goes red in the face when visitors stand there with their mouths wide open trying to figure out what i have painted i am not embarrased though as they show their intelligence by not having a clue as to what Modern Art is or what is Clever:rotfl:0
