Received this over night via Ebay.
Hi
I have been away for ten days and left my teenage brother to post your parcel out for you and deal with my ebay account, I have arrived home tonight to find the parcel is still in my sitting room and you have opened a dispute.
I can only apologies for his prank and can assure you he will not be dealing with my parcels ever again. I am not even sure why he did it, and it seems you are not the only one. If you still want the item I have it here and could send it in the morning (Thursday) with next day delivery which I will not charge you any extra for, so that you get it in time for Christmas and I will refund £10.00 off of the price you paid for the trouble it has caused.
I am not a professional seller, I just sold a few things to have money for Christmas and my feedback as you can see is excellent. I am genuinely sorry for what has happened, if you no longer want the item I fully understand and I will refund you straight away. Are you willing to close the dispute as I would prefer not to have any black marks against my account.
Once again I am truly sorry.
I wrote back this morning with
Thank you for your apology, however while I do want the set as it was bought as a gift for my son, I would like to accept the full refund as I have lost faith in this sale. The dispute I believe will be closed once the refund is made.0 -

What an odd seller and situation! I don't understand why they were so vehement in their previous messages that it was a parcel/proof of tracking etc if they hadn't even posted it themselves - surely they would check with their brother first? Whatever you do, don't close that dispute! I would not trust this seller an inch!0

Hmm seems a bit fishy, the whole Brother story. I agree take the refund, leave some good old honest feedback too

Isn't it funny that both of the messages you received from the seller, look and seem identical. Is he saying that a cheeky teen would try and scam people in that way, then send a lovely and polite message?
I don't think so!
I reckon they know they have made a boo boo because the tracking number they supplied matches the one on the envelope you received.
Cheeky !!!!!!.
Oh and report them so they DO get a mark on their account!Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
Will the refund appear? I bet they've realised they can't win this one and will be thinking up a more foolproof scam for themselves! Shocking!0

hope you get your money back quickly.
teenage brother? yes of course.
Their reply in Post #15, definitely did not sound like teenage speak to me!0 -
He must have realised that his plan had failed when you defended yourself. I assume he's not too bright as there's no way the plan could work: either the same tracking number was used which wouldn't match up with the pics taken (or the weight) or a different number was used which would mean you could claim back the cost through non-delivery.
I think asking for a refund was the right thing to do. Assuming it gets paid at least that means it's dealt with. I'd also consider reporting him to Ebay and giving them the details of the emails he sent you. If he's dodgy, which does seem by far the most likely answer, he'll just move onto other, less savvy people.0 -
Great - it seems obvious that he got caught out. I believe you've done right by asking for a refund. I don't believe his story a all.
Good end result !0
