What a strange situation! Does he sell a lot of lego? I was wondering if your set is still en-route, and he has got you muddled up with another customer who had a bit missing from a different set (iyswim). This would be a bit more feasible if he had provided a different tracking number from the one you received - very odd.0
-
this does sound shifty.
How can he profit from this, Is he going to keep the £13 you paid for postage? Then he can profit from this.
It is a shame that we have a lot of fraudsters out there. You just have to play the game and wait for paypal to sort this out.
If this was a genuine seller, he would have been just as confused as you when you notified him of the dodgy item.
Good luck, keep us posted
hope he gets banned.0 -
Today is 15th if they bought early December and then had to chase up liklihood is it's over 7 days so if so tracking means nothing as the seller has lost all seller protection.chancesare wrote: »Sorry CB, where is this said. I'm not being a pedant, but the OP said the item was bought early Dec, but just received. With the snow it is still feasible the seller posted within 7 days. Or did I miss something?0 -
I am truely appalled at the way people have jumped to conclusions.
Stop winding up the OP, calm down and apply some common sense, or is that too boring?
-Has the seller sold any other lego recently?
-Do you know what postage service they used?
I think alot of people are winding this poor buyer up...there is no evidence of any scam.
If the seller has sent via royal mail-quite likley given the amount they have charged for P+P- then there's a good chance that the parcel is stuck somewhere. Given that we have had bad weather, it's xmas, and RM have been implementing changes to sorting and delivering of mail (which seem to have slowed things down rather than speeded them up) there's a good chance it is still on route. Apparently the RM operate a 'last in, first out' system, so if your parcel gets stuck in an unsorted pile of mail, it will stay there until they catch up.
If the seller has sold other lego sets -as apposed to random pieces- it's quite possible that you have recieved a piece meant for someone else's set. Perhaps they got a complaint of a missing piece from someone else, and a 'where's my item' email from you, and they just got you mixed up. It's easy to do! -The other buyer probably has an email saying 'I sent your item ages ago!'
Things do sometimes go wrong - parcels get delivered to incorrect addresses, labels come off, emails get mixed up ...
If the seller has sold 30ish items, with no bad feedback I think it's highly unlikely they suddenly decided to start some elaborate lego scam...
I think these people telling you to make a big fuss are just wind up merchants, you should ignore them, keep a cool head and pragmatic attitude, and it will all sort itself out.
If worst comes to the worst and it doesn't turn up, just get a refund and move on.
If I were you I would send them a POLITE email asking them to give you a tracking number, and point out that you recieved a single piece of lego, not the 624 you bought.
The worst thing this seller can be accused of at this point is being disorganised. I would save the accusations until you have proof of wrong doing.0 -

I agree that this sounds too strange to take at face value.
It is odd for someone to count all 624 pieces of Lego and take photos of parcels before sending (but not take a photo of the 624 pieces you took the time to count).
It is odd to send a single piece of lego tracked.
If you assume these facts are true then:
It has been mentioned the possibility that the box turned into an envelope en route. For example I assume you give it to someone to post and ask for a tracking number back. If they wanted to keep the postage money they could send just one piece. The note in the package does not fit with this.
It has been mentioned there was a mix up with orders. (Perhaps they sent the wrong item tracked).
If you assume these facts are untrue then:
It has been mentioned this is a con but one ebay buyer protection should stop. I assume the old paypal con where a penny was sent tracked from overseas would be picked up better by the new system. I also do not see why it would be necessary to count all 624 pieces of Lego for this to work and I was not aware they needed to take photos. Also why would you add a hand written note.
I do not think any of the above fit the limited facts so the explanation maybe something else.0 -
To be fair, the idea that a single piece of Lego could have been meant for someone else is a little weak, particularly that the seller pointed out this discrepancy of a single piece, as in normal circumstances had the seller sent "anyone" a single lego brick, they would have noticed the mistake as soon as a single piece of lego was mentioned.
Unless of course we are led to believe the seller sent out 624 individually wrapped lego bricks, (which is possible) but a bit of a long shot by anyones standards.
A parcel (as described by the seller) somehow, magically turning itself into a small envelope is even "accidentally" impossible.
It looks quite clear that the OP was scammed, unless we are to assume the OP is making this up, which I very much doubt. Had it been a genuine mistake, the seller would have immediately noticed this as soon as it was mentioned, and not gone to the trouble of specifically mentioning 624 bricks being sent.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Christmas is a time of magic;).
Your post does point out very well why a mix up of order is hard to understand though I do not myself draw any conclusion from this.
It will be interesting to see if a parcel turns up later.0 -

The OP has explained that they haven't receieved their 624 lot of lego but instead received one piece of lego.
The seller has replied to say that they haven't sent one piece of lego out, and that if the OP wants a refund, they must send back 624 pieces of lego.
Surely anyone with an ounce of common sense, if they had sent one piece to someone else, would twig and check that they had sent it to the right person.
Why if they have low feedback would be be going to so many lengths to stop themselves being scammed?

If this is a seller who has got muddled why are they insisting that the tracking number relates to 624 pieces of Lego when buyer has received that tracked item with the same number and only 1 piece of Lego?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
