Has anyone tried the bread mix from Lidl?
I bought the Multi Grain mix today (green bag, made by LANDGUT), was 99p for a 1000g bag which makes 2 loaves.
It says to use 'Normal/Browing:Middle or Dark' on the back of the bag?
As I assume this is for continental breadmakers would you bake this on a large loaf, whole wheat and medium colour setting in your Morphy Richards fastbake?
I've answered you on the thread you've started.0 -

Ta!
I posted the question on here as I have a MR but then thought about all of those people who buy the mix but don't have a MR, so realised I may not get a reply.0 -

I bought it last week and it turned into a not very nice brick, gave it to the birds, it only happens with the wholegrain bread mixes, I have no idea how to fix it so with the remaining half I think I'm just going to mix the dough in the BM and bake it in the oven.
I've used both the wholewheat and the basic setting on a couple of wholegrain mixes with the same result - a brick.
I'm going to have to get brave and try and mix it from scratch.

I bought the Hovis Granary mix from Asda last week and that came out ok except for sinking at the top!
I used the large loaf, whole wheat and medium settings.
I came home late from shopping and it had been sat in there for about 25 mins so that may be why the top dropped, I am not sure.0 -
I bought a bag of hovis multigrain flour and followed the softgrain loaf recipe in my MR BM book.
Turned out really nice and soft.
Also made baps today following the dough recipe, yummy scrummy!

IMHO
Don't bother with these, they turn out too heavy. My last one was composted
I will stick to the recipes in my book.. They work out just as cost effective in my opinion.

Oh well, I have bought one now so I may as well try it.
I will be prepared for a disaster.
Won't mention the fact that it may be carp to the other half in case it turns out fine.0 -
I made another loaf today from the recipe I found on YouTube (flour/water/salt/honey/yeast!) and it turned out fine except for sinking again like the one I made yesterday.
I upped the yeast by 1/4 tsp today and it was a bit taller than yesterdays loaf but it still sank!
This is what it looks like upside down, doesn't look too bad:
This is the right way, looks like a yorksihire pud!
I only had the yeast out of the fridge for about 10 to 15 mins before I added it to the rest of the stuff, do you think this could be the reason for it sinking?
Otherwise it is lovely inside, soft and fluffy.0 -
Hi,
Just wanted to say I'm still in love with my MR Fastbake, it was a Christmas present, I've bought bread since!
I'm just beginning to get the confidence to experiment, I've just tried doing the sandwich loaf thing, mixing it on Dough followed by the Sandwich setting - it got the thumbs up.
To my Pizza dough, I add garlic granules and some herbs. I top it with Annabel Karmel's Hidden Vegetable Tomato Sauce to get some veg into DH!
My mum is most impressed that I've not bought bread since getting it.
It's great waking up in the morning to fresh bread.
I've also made a couple of Maderia cakes and the Raisin Loaf which have both proved popular.
I'm planning on making some Hot Cross Buns for Easter
Got to go DD just woken up demanding milk.

P.S. I'm also having issues with the pan unlocking, but it's not affecting the mixing so far, I will put a call in to Customer Services once it does.Proud to be dealing with my debts

Great pictures! And as the inside is nice, just keep it upside down
Difficult to comment without knowing exact recipe + quantities you are using.
Generally, more yeast will make it rise higher, but if it rises too high it will collapse.
Granary/wholewheat loaves don't rise as well as white ones, will always be a bit firmer.
Wouldn't have thought yeast straight out of fridge would make any difference, if the other ingredients were room temperature, water tepid.
Have you found your manual and tried a MR standard recipe?0
