    Hello all,

I have a MR Fastbake and use the recipes from the book by Annette Yates called 'Fresh bread in the morning from your bread machine'
She says in the book that you don't need milk powder, sugar and things like that. Just the basics.

I found the recipes that came with the machine much to sweet so I use this instead. I've never had a bad loaf.

It has lots of different recipes, some quite exotic as far as bread goes !

Its on Amazon for £3.97 at the moment.

    Thanks
    Robson

:j hello! happy new year! i new there'd be a in thread here somewhere for the mr fastbake! i hope no-one minds the bump?! :o:p

i have just ordered a MR multi-use Fastbake (48281) and have a couple of questions if anyone would mind helping? its not due to be delivered til a week on monday so i have time to prepare for its arrival.

firstly the Fastbake states a 2lb loaf in less than an hour - do you lose any quality of the loaf on this setting at all?

secondly would someone please be so kind and post up the actual size dimensions of the machine? i may need a reshuffle of my kitchen :o

i cant wait to read through this thread and gather recipes - i used to have a bm years ago - an old morphy, but found all it got used for was pizza dough. also the bread used to have a very plasticy taste, i'm hoping things will have changed a bit. see i've already learnt i dont have to use powdered milk! is the loaf better with ordinary milk and do you use the same quantity? i noticed oil is the in thing too, always used butter in the recipes before lol! i have some learning to do!

    Hi merlin,

I don't think the fastbake loaf is as good as the regular one but it's not too bad if you need it in a hurry. Over the last year I've used mine less and less because I prefer bread baked in the oven so really only use it occasionally for dough if I don't have the time or inclination to make it by hand.

You can replace the water in the recipe with the same quantity of milk instead of using milk powder or some people have posted that they don't bother with milk or milk powder at all. Some of the recipes in my book have oil and some have butter...I've found them interchangable as long as you use the same amount of fat.

The mr was my first introduction to breadmaking and I found the best way to go was to use the recipes that came with the breadmaker until I got to 'know' the machine before I began playing about with them, but if you have made bread in the past you might have more confidence than I did. :D

My machine was relegated to the attic for Christmas to make more space in the kitchen. I'll get dh to get it down later today and measure it for you.

I've never got on with the fastbake setting for some reason, its just never worked for me... I always just leave it on the standard wholemeal setting overnight.

I've said it loads already in this thread, but don't use the recipes in the manual, have a look through here for advice... I always use olive oil and never butter, mainly because its easier to measure out and I've always got olive oil handy.
  • hi can anybody please post a quick bread recipe please? not used the BM in ages due to work :( i fancy making bread buns....as some beef burgers need eating. i lost the manual :(
does my bum look big in this sig?
  • Hi can I join the club too, I got a fastbake for xmas and have not bought bread since, my kids love the white rolls and and have also made french, basic white, pizza dough and fastbake loaf.

Wasn't overly impressed with fastbake loaf but its ok in an emergency also might have something to do with the fact that I cut myself while slicing the loaf.

Am loving my new BM. I have an italian loaf in there at the mo to have with spag bol for dinner, yum

Am on the search for some different recipes have run out of time today but will search through this thread in more detail later

    Happy BM everyone

I thought you needed sugar for the yeast to activate ?
I customized my FB basic bread recipe and use value flour, half water half milk and no milk powder, olive/sunflower oil instead of melted butter, half the amunt of salt and a large teaspoon of fresh yeast (free from Asda). Always makes a lovely loaf , all the family prefer it to shop bread.
    I love my BM :T
