Have recently bought a MRFB and am waiting for my third loaf to finish - so far have had 2 good loaves.

Sorry if this has been asked already but how do you store your ingredients?

I am struggling to spoon rather than scoop flour into the cup without getting it everywhere so thought I might decant it into something bigger to make it easier to fill the cup - or am I just over complicating the issue?!!!

Also, wondered if the flour should be in a sealed container? Have closed the yeast in its packet and put it in a take away container but would this last longer if it was stored in the fridge?

Finally, has anyone got a recipe for a wheaten loaf - would make my DHs day if I made him one!

Cant wait for my loaf to finish - am doing the banana and nut load straight after!:j
  • Hi Tracey

With regards to storing the flour I keep it in the bag it comes in but I put this inside an old (clean) ice cream tub with a lid.

When measuring out the flour I stand the measuring cup in a soup/cereal bowl then if any spills over the cup it goes into the bowl, the spilt flour can still be used and the bowl is easy washed up - it saves getting flour all over the work top.

Once a yeast packet is opened I keep it in the fridge, I fold over the top and seal it with a clothes peg.

Have fun with your breadmaker, now you have made the step you will never go back to shop bought bread.

Hi I love my morphy richards breadmaker. I make wholemeal bread with flour from Sainsbury and was advised by a baker to use a teaspoon of malt in the mixture. This works for me .

Hi, can anyone help me please. My breadmaker has started to make a some weird noises, last week it was making a scratching noise, and today it was making a high pitched squeaking noise, very similar to the noise of running fingernails down a blackboard, which I found very uncomfortable. How can I stop this please, I wondered if I could 'oil' it with something, but was worried it would catch fire.

    Hiya

I use my MR Fastbake to make pizza dough but not a lot else really!

I've tried the fastbake and the normal function to make a white loaf and each time the loaf was not cooked in the middle :( it was still doughy and raw!

    Any tips?

I'm considerin just making a loaf dough up and stickin it in the oven ... If I make enough dough for a 1lb loaf ... what temperature would the oven need to be and how long should I cook it for?

    Thanks!
  • I got a MR BM from car boot for £2, it has everything except the measuring cup, I know i can order one off the site, but does someone know how much a "cup" is if i want to manually meausre the ingredients?

If you click here, pick your model and it will take you to a page where you can download the manual. It will probably tell you in there what the equivalent weights are. It does in my manual for the 48268. Good Luck

Can anyone help please? Ive had my BM for around 18 months now and never had any probs. Just put my pizza dough together and pressed the programme which beeped but did not turn AGH:( seems that the motor does not want to turn. I tried switching off and on again but although the display works nothing else wants to! Anyhow Ive had to take it all out of the pan and work by hand, the dough is now in a bowl with t towel on top in front of the fire!!! Any suggestions would be welcome, thanks:eek:

    Oh my Lord.

I'm sitting here with everything crossed that I can possibly cross.

I've just bought a MR fastbake and am making my first loaf as we speak.

I hope yours hasn't died for good. What if you unplug it for a while and then try again.

    :(
