A really quiet month for us as DH has no extra gigs and of course we've spent on summer treats. That, plus my private clinic costs have meant we're into our overdrafts with a vengeance and it's not looking pretty. Next month, however, looks much better - DH has about £1500 of gigs, so will be back into overpayment territory, with any luck.

I have confessed mine to jwil already:p Hope you're well x

Oh and Jwil - my revised total target to pay off is £5253.46 (makes the target a liiickle bit closer, eh?). Thanks for all your work on the challenge!

Ok I'm going to sit down before the weekend and work out a budget so that I can see what's left and go from there I have been thinking of all sorts of things to cut down costs including using candles instead of electric in the winter and if I have a candle party I can also get my candles for free from the hostess commission I thought of using radiators to dry clothes on if they are on instead of tumble drier In time I would like to grow my own veg which also helps the eco system because you can only grow what is in season instead of having it imported
It's the beginning for me in a few ways - I'm starting a new job on Thursday - one I have tried to get for the last 6 years so I am REALLY excited It's my last day of smoking tomorrow so new excercise regime will also start including walking home from work while it's still light (3 and a half miles) When it's gets dark I will start doing fitness programmes from the tv instead I am going to start re-cooking food from scratch - when I did this in the past our shopping bill was cut in half and it was a lot healthier Oh I am soooo looking forward to all the changes I intend to focus more on cleaning also

Good luck with the new job! Sounds like you've got some great ideas for cutting back. Keep posting and let us know how you get on. It's always nice to hear how others are raising the extra funds, it helps motivate us all

Thanks for the updates everyone! Payday for me at last, so I've made a nice payment today.

It's going to be a tight month again this month, but I'm hoping to get back on track.

Here's hoping we all have a bumper September!

Morning keep up the good work, i know what you mean jwill its been all on a struggle keeping in the positive numbers this month however as i assessed my spreadsheets i can see that after september the positive is much better and that means more overpayments, christmas shopping to start soon i have just short of 20 people to buy for ! i think it needs to be sorted out ..... ive told oh he needs to tell his relatives to stop buying so that we dont have to buy the cheap presents that probably mean little id sooner not make them feel like they have to buy bla bla anyway rant over lol xx

Well lots of other spending this last month on Xmas presents (yes, already) and lots of equipment such as buggies for impending baby (due in mid November). Managed some more overpayments and will actually hopefully become debt free in the next couple of weeks if i get paid for some private work I have been doing recently.

So current state of play is 159. andyjsg - £13,165.81/£14,949.81

#127 total so far is £660 for end of August. I'm not doing to well on increasing payments at the moment as other things keep cropping up.

Hopefully I'll be able to make inroads soon.

Just back from hols to the cold and dark:( Bit of a change to 30+ and sunshine...still brought back £70 with me so that's a result. Paid £120 off Barclaycard, £30 off Virgin and £200 off the Amex so that's £3054.23/£6842.49. Phew actually managed not to get in more debt this month which I wasn't expecting. Looks like I'll have a mortgage to start paying soon though so best not make too many payments until I know when we're moving.

That sounds good that you'll have more positive figures happy. Eeek to 20 people to buy for though! I found when I told people not to buy for me any more, they were quite happy about it too. It's an expensive time for everyone so most people don't mind. I'd rather meet up for a drink or go out for a meal than have the presents anyway.
