If anyone is doing phones shops for GFK, please check the fee before you submit the questionnaire. It has to be manually changed from 0.00 to the correct figure. Normally it just says the correct fee. I am click happy and flew right through and submitted it and then remembered the fee said 0.00. LOL.
This happened with some standard fee bank jobs a while back. I did one of these, and whilst my brain registered the zero fee, my clicking finger pressed "submit." I'm in autopilot sometimes at the end of the day!
I phoned GfK the next day, and told them that I didn't want to work for zilch. They said not to worry, becuase the fee would get put in automatically at their end. I was paid without any problems (they hadn't taken the assignment details or my details from me when I phoned).0 -

Yup many times and generally works out ok for me-- if your talking about react and a certain Airport gig its not too worth it unless ur flying to somewhere you can get more gigs.0 -
The tax office so you can register to pay tax and National Insurance.
Before you start, set up a decent accounting system and make sure you keep it updated as you go along. It's much easier if you have the finalised accounting data for your tax return, rather than trying to compile a years worth at once. Also set up a decent filing system to store all the paperwork and notes that you need to keep.
I found this to my cost this year and this was my second year!
I had a box full of rubbish that had some receipts in but a system I found useful was an A4 project book with pockets and label up each one and then put the receipts and other stuff in each pocket.
Keep up to date with records though, and do return asap - saves a lot of hassle!(DFW Long Haul # 240 )0 -
I've had my first proofreading query today.....from RE
They've said my receipt is blurry - looks OK to me, but I guess I'll take another pic tonight.0 -

For those that do crisp jobs..when you do the covert stores, do you brazenly take the pics with a camera or do you pretend you are doing your shopping and do it secretly with a camera phone?
I've been approached twice now in two different stores and wondering which the best way is to do it.
I always take mine covertly with my iPhone. The photos are good enough and the quality has never been questioned. In the stores where we officially have an authorisation letter then I might be more brazen than the shops where we don't.
In all my stores I've only ever been questioned once (as I took my last photo) and I don't think the poor woman knew what to say to me! Her: "you can't take photos here", me: "oh, ok" *put phone away and start moving to the exit*, her: "uhhhhhhhhh why are you taking photos", me: "marketing project", her: "uhhhhhhh you need permission from head office", me: "ok!". Hint - act like a naive student.0 -
