But MacDonalds isn't the only choice in this location (as I said earlier in the thread)

    Which location?

This is awful news, and your right when your on TACHO and need food in the small hours - Maccy's is sometimes your only choice - I cannot believe they are that 'big' that they can turn down custom in this way and like you say at 1am onwards (and even before to be fair) no one is going to be killed in the drive-thru window queue! Hmmm - SHAME ON THEM!
My fella is a class 2 driver and said himself - he wont be buying from them in future!

It might be slightly annoying were it true, but as it is not then it is of no concern.

As was said in the OP, it is Tankersley, Barnsley (between the Stocksbridge bypass and J36 of the M1.

The only way I can think of this as a problem is as follows.

If, during the early hours, McDonalds shuts and locks its doors and only allows people to use the drive-thru windows.

That way, HGVs won't fit through the drive-thru and can't park up, jump out and queue up in the restaurant as it's not open.

Previously they would have parked up, jumped out and gone to the drive-thru window instead, but now they're being stopped from doing that as well (probably due to H&S fears).

So they can't get in the restaurant as it's closed and can't go through the drive-thru as they don't have a vehicle that fits. No Maccy Ds for the HGV drivers.*

I doubt very much it's JUST HGV drivers though, it'll be everyone. It could be dangerous walking down the drive-thru late and causes so much queue-jumping-food-knicking potential! :rotfl:

I bet all McDonalds managers have had a circular stating this practice is to stop. Simple as that.

Take some sandwiches in your wagon or take your custom elsewhere.

*(I know this is in fact the situation in fact as I stopped at a drive-thru that's having a refit and thus the restaurant is closed. A trucky asked me to buy a meal for him as they wouldn't serve him at the window. He gave me the cash and I obliged.)

potentially there was a near miss where someone was almost knocked over so things were changed.

Potentially a near miss where something almost happened? Right.
