McDonalds BANS HGV drivers

And are MacDonalds really the only place open overnight? I'm sure that every place I've seen where HGV drivers park there is some entrepreneur with a van selling food.
Or is the OP moaning about not being able to get a MacDonalds cv a drive thru and then continue driving whilst eating. Something which can't be safe.
There's a 24 hr food van just half a mile down the road from this branch of MacDonalds, with plenty of parking for HGVs. The food is much better too.
There is also a 24hr garage next door which sells a pretty good range of hot drinks and snacks.0 -
Im sure most of the cabs will have a microwave on board to make they're own food they buy from a supermarket then make a meal and eat it0

Only if the drivers (or companies) are prepared to pay around £400 a time for the microwaves, you can't use a normal one as the voltage is different, well you can, but you also need a power inverter.
Most drivers will have a camping stove and gas.0 -

Crikey, there are so many superstores open 24 hours a day. Even though it usually is cold food(sandwiches etc) got to be better than the c**p McDonalds sell?
And I am sure that any trucker worth his while can russle up something hot to eat. My dad used to and that was 20 odd years ago.
Or are truckers too soft nowadays?0 -

Obviously a drive-through is not for people, up until last night this has never been an issue and as far as I am aware, no-one has been killed buying the burger (obviously eating the burger is probably the greater risk to health).
What is the big deal you may well ask? Well for an HGV driver at night, there is virtually no cooked food available and McDonalds is about all that is going. In this cold, icy weather even junk food is sometimes necessary and better than nothing. Would they refuse to serve a trucker who became stranded in the snow? Last night HGV drivers on the road were left hungry, I hope none of them had an accident due to McDonalds new policy.
HGV drivers have to abide by extrmely strict european working time directives, after 4 1/2 hours driving they have to find a place of safety for the vehicle and stop, the driver has no choice in this. They can't just nip to the next 'stop' as they would be driving illegally, and fully responsible for the potential tragic consequences.
Mr M Barker - Business Manager McDonalds, Wentworth Industrial Park, Tankersley 01226 740025 SHAME ON YOU!
This is awful news, and your right when your on TACHO and need food in the small hours - Maccy's is sometimes your only choice - I cannot believe they are that 'big' that they can turn down custom in this way and like you say at 1am onwards (and even before to be fair) no one is going to be killed in the drive-thru window queue! Hmmm - SHAME ON THEM!
My fella is a class 2 driver and said himself - he wont be buying from them in future!Loan finished Sep 2010 - HSBC CC - WAS £750 now £0! Natwest CC - WAS £1600 now £100 - Overdraughts to be worked on! WILL be debt free by mid 2011!!!

I see the incorrect title still adorns this thread. Odd as Mcd's legal bods are usually sharp to pick up on things when they are wrong.0

But MacDonalds isn't the only choice in this location (as I said earlier in the thread)0
