McDonalds BANS HGV drivers

I am a bit puzzled by this. If the HGV driver has to park up then should they not use the same counter as any other driver who parks up? What if every person who parks decides to use the drive thru window as a short cut and perhsaps even bring all the car occupants to the windo to decide what to have?
This would have an impact on the management of staff in the outlet with some allocated to the drive thru window and some to the counter inside. There is also a dager issue to pedestrians in an unexpected area of the site, creating a driving hazard. In the Compensation culture we weem to be evolving quickly into I can see this as another hazard / opportunity depending on who is looking to claim and who is required to pay.
I think the point is that overnight, only the drive through is open. The main restaurant may not be. So there is no option to "go to the counter"."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -
Me and my husband went on a night out in skegness and fancied something to eat so went to mcdonalds and as it was late they had locked the doors and told us to walk through the drive thru!
A few of the mcdonalds where i live lock the doors so no one can enter even though they claim its open 24hrs the only option is to go to the drive thru window.0 -
Many of the LGV drivers I see need to use the drive through as they can't fit their fat !!!!!! through the restaurant doors. :eek:0

OP - you obviously have a strong feeling on this and are deliberatly throwing around statements to make them look bad. It is not HGV drivers that are banned, it is anyone on foot that is.
ive been to my local mcdonalds on a bike and on foot in the past for some early morning snackage.
used to be allowed but not anymore, H&S again.
However, surely the majority of night users in some locations must be HGV drivers, and it would be in Mcdonalds interest to allow them to purchase food, obviously.0 -
Some of them have a walk through for people on foot.Come on you Irons0

I've read it several times and I'm not entirely sure what it's all about.
In any case in my part of the world the point would be moot as it would be physically impossible to drive a HGV through at either of the branches near to were I live at any time of day or night. At least not unless you're driving an extremely flexible HGV that's capable of negotiating tight 90 degree corners. The fridge is empty, the walls are damp, there's no hot water
And I look like a tramp and tramps like us

To the OP if you'd just collected your bid mac via the drive through and then been hit by a car, would you not be looking to sue macdonalds for their mistake? I'm willing to bet this is why they no longer allow it.0
