I don’t have a problem with the price of the eye test:cool:

No kidding matey! I should hope not!!!

Try paying the true cost of the eye examination before grumbling about frames and lenses.

Providing the patient with a signed prescription at the end of an eye examination is a legal requirement. And you have a right to take your prescription elsewhere. However, there are many problems which result from situations where eye examinations and the purchase of glasses occur in different places. If there are any problems with youre new glasses eg vision is not as expected in them, youll be back and forth between the two places getting them sorted. Id suggest that that you think carefully where you want to buy glasses and get your eyes examined there.

Not all opticians charge so much for glasses- you have to shop around, some places will provide a basic pair for £25, and if theres any issues with the made up glasses you know where to go back. some opticians will refund the cost of the eye exam if glasses are bought.

I do feel that the one-to-one service, and relationship established between a pateint and their own opticians Is worth paying extra for. Like other users have said aleady non-internet based opticians have overheads/staff to pay for. I honestly believe that u pay for what you get. Good service may not come cheap but definately worth it.

No offence to those who think otherwise!

Precisely, either you haven't read the factual explanations for the initial comments in your initial post or have just chosen to ignore them.

Or you just couldn't see well enough to read them. Perhaps I can help with a bargain comprehensive eye exam:)

    Factual explanations?
All you have come up with are excuses that don’t amount to a tin of beans.

They are factual explanations - it's just you'd rather believe what you hear and read in the 'balanced and well researched' media that we have to put up with these days.

It's not just what we hear or read in the media, it's based on my own and many other peoples personal experience.

Just because a product is more expensive in a bricks and mortor premises than available online, it doesn't necessarily make it a rip off. As explained umpteen times before in this thread, there are good reasons for the difference in pricing.

I'm bowing out of this as it's pointless trying to educate those who don't want to believe what they are told, irrespective of it's accuracy.
