i was approaching a roundabout and learner driver was in front of me i saw that he was moving off so i looked to the right of me to check traffic and saw it was clear i moved off to BUT instructor had stopped him and i bumped into him i didnt admit responsability but as i ran into him it was my fault .0 -
Just a slight update. Mum has had a call from the courtesy car company to say that they have had a call to say that her car has been repaired and they will be picking up the courtesy car tomorrow. Her car however is still parked outside our house and no one has even contacted her to tell her when it will be picked up. Obviously mum has told them of this, and is now awaiting a call back.
Where does mum stand if they insist on picking up the courtesy car tomorrow, her car is still broken, if they either don't come for her car or she doesn't receive a cheque for the car. She is left with precious little.
It is all so confusing and i've never seen such a shoddily run company who shall for the time being be left nameless. Mum has contacted several people and just keeps being passed from pillar to post, no one knows what is going on.
Mum has spoken to her insurance company who has said that the other party have not been in contact as yet so she does feel slightly better that they have not denied liability.
Again thanks for the advice we have got so far.0 -
When you company sends of the forms to the other insurance company they have weeks (I dont mean 1 or 2) to reply and the 1st reply can just be the acknowledging the claim form. SO be prepared for a long wait. If you have legal protection they quite often set them on them if they think you have a 100% case.
Remember to record all out of pocket expenses.
Did your mum take any photos of the cars/scene? Always a very useful think to do especially in the days of mobile phones with cameras. If she did not and the temporary lights are still there, get down there quick and take some shots because the road layout will look totally different without them there.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

I was hit from behind last year - was sat at the end of a slip road waiting/indicating to join a motorway near the city centre, and then suddenly a whack from behind from a corsa. The young driver had two passengers - the driver didn't admit any liability but did say that he thought I'd pulled away - however the force he hit me and damage to my car suggested he hit me at a rolling speed - not a sharp pull away from stationary, so he obviously wasn't paying attention.
Police attended due to the location and my car not being driveable, and they said it was his fault, and ultimately charged him with careless driving.
Anyway, my car was wrote off, and I got a hire car through the insurance from the next day (accident was a sunday), and kept it for two weeks until settlement was agreed and paid out. My no claims wasn't affected at all.0 -

Thanks for thatI had a car crash in september but it was all dealt with so quickly and the police attended so was much easier to deal with.
Mum is recording everything but has been told that she will have to cancel her current insurance at cost to her because they refuse to insure her anymore. She will not be able to claim this back either according to them.
Unfortunately she didn't get any photos and the lights have now gone. I guess we all live and learn. Cheers though! xx0 -

As far as I'm aware, the only cost you cannot claim from a third party are collision damage waiver fees on a hire car as this is your choice. You should be able to claim back any costs you've incurred as a result of the collision, but it sounds like you need to liaise with a decent claims handling firm or even an independent solicitor. If things look so bleak with your silly insurance company, how about talking to a high street solicitor and see if they'll take your case knowing that they'll be paid by the other party's insurer?0 -
I think people should be made aware of this company's name so they can avoid them like the plague.
Come on, name and shame!:A0 -

Sorry I shan't be naming and shaming anyone until all this is sorted, last thing I want is this getting any worse for mum however if they don't book their ideas up sharpish then I will post something in the complaints section of this forum. Thanks so much for all the advice, I will let mum know and keep you informed. She feels better about fighting this now she is in a slightly better position.
Courtesy car is sorted, they made a mistake and it is still in our possession. The company to come collect mum's poorly car hasn't been in touch, mum has tried calling them but they are constantly on answer phone aswell.
Mum has to insure her new car from tomorrow so she can pick it up from garage so she will then be paying 2 lots of insurance, plus because her current insurance company won't release her NCB till she has cancelled with them she has to set it up at more cost to her without her NCD. There must be a way to claim this all back somehow. 1 step at a time I guess.
Thanks again
