Tesco direct and Sainsbury are also suspending deliveries in Scotland. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/scotland/

I've had emails saying that my orders are 'on their way to the Dundee store' for me to pick up - I'll let you know!

I would phone and check if it is there. I had same email and my order was not there when I went in - even though it was saying it on their system - I even had an email telling me they would only hold it for another day or two! Rang customer service and they said they would hold it longer - just as well - took two weeks to get it after the date they said it was there!

I ordered one of their hampers on Friday to be delivered to my home and haven't received anything to say that they can't deliver so will be keeping my fingers crossed that it is honoured!!

Appears to be certain couriers as well as tesco, sainsbury's Asda and boots.....
  • We are a modern country, no?
We are now in the year 2010, no?
So why cant we cope as a country when this weather strikes us.
How do other countries cope with this weather?

Thing is - this weather has been exceptional, and any delay is bound to screw up Christmas deliveries. The sheer volume and rate of turnout of goods at this time of year is phenomenal.

As for 'other countries coping' - often they don't. We just don't hear about it...

Other countries cope because they are prepared for it and invest for it.
We don't and to be honest I don't think we should invest millions if it's exceptional.
  • I have an M&S order outstanding from 21st November. Way before the snow fiasco.

It's with DHL however they've told me that as I live in a rural address they won't be delivering it until the backlog of "normal" (in the words of the DHL manager) addresses are delivered. He also admitted that was highly unlikely to be before Christmas.

M&S have been outstandingly unhelpful. They will not issue a refund until I return the goods. That will be a challenge as I'm off on holiday from 27th Dec for 3 weeks their response was that I would have to make arrangements for someone else to return the goods once delivered.

Unfortunately I stupidly ordered my turkey for collection at M&S. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they announce they can no longer fulfill those orders either.

The weather has been exceptional and I think everyone understands that. What has been appalling is the arrogant attitude of the likes of M&S who have no intentions of assisting customers now they have their money.

  • i think we are starting to see why the transport minister for scotland got his books.
the companies that are supposed to be supplying all our goods should be much more flexible.
extra shifts, late nights saturdays and sunday deliveries.
the weather isn't too bad now,so theres no need to stop delivering to the whole country.

imagine saying, "london your weathers been too bad so we won't be delivering anything you've had on order for the past few weeks".

ive decided to never buy anything from play.com tonight also. after 4 emails asking about items ive bought ive still had no reply so. ive spent hundreds if not thousands of pounds with them over the years too. but i just can't get in touch with them,so ive had to cancel my orders and go elsewhere.
