Its a game.
Its fantasy
games have evolved since we played pacman
Its not real
I have bought this for my 13 year old for Christmas, I also have a 10 year old and he will want to play it too.
I have no problem with them playing it. They have all the COD games. They are well adjusted and good kids, and yes WE DO CARE VERY MUCH about our children.
I am fairly confident they wont want to go and blow the heads off of people in the street.
We limit the time they play on the Xbox and all other consoles they have. If I were to say to them 'you know this is only a game right?' they'd look at me like i'm mad, of course they know its not real !
The game is not exactly pure fantasy, it is based on the real and harsh reality of war and the violence that goes with that. Why expose them to the likes of that at such a young age. Kids just dont stay kids long enough these days
Not a personal attack on you btw as i believe lots of other parents have your line of thinking and i do believe your children are probably lovely and well rounded kids just a shame they grow up so fast0 -
im prob gonna get shot down here, my 11 yo ds plays this game when he goes to his uncles, my 6 yo nephew helped his dad complete it hours after he bought it, it is very violent though, my ds has played many of the other cod games and he hasnt suffered from it, he knows its fantasy and he is not a violent child.
in this day and age you see the same violence on the news and tv:oIn 2009 i finally gave up smoking Have been smoke free for 3 years!!!!!!

To be fair thats true, in the case of teenagers at least, they probably hear worse in the playground at school. My DS is only 1 but i refuse to let OH play the game in the same room or if theres something on tv thats violent and catches his eye i turn it off, a good example being that eminem and rihanna video, everytime he hears that his head shoots round :rotfl: but i try to shield his little eyes from as much as possible.0 -
absolutly no way. the ratings are there for a reason.
My hubby won't even play a 18 game when the kids are downstairs. children can pick up on things very easily. imo there is enough violance in this world without playing it as part of fun.0 -

my 6 yo nephew also knows every word to every eminem song i think lol, but they are played on tv before watershed.
my ds does not spend a lot of time in front of the computer and i think this has a lot to do with how children are affected by games. my ds and his cousins and friends all went through a stage of play wrestling after playing it on their computers, watching it on tv, but i dont think they are rated 18. again i think it depends on how llong they spend playing on it:oIn 2009 i finally gave up smoking Have been smoke free for 3 years!!!!!!

Too much for an 8 yr old imo, we have it and our 14 year old plays it, but not suitable for an 8 year old imo.0

Personally I'd wait until he was a bit older.
Buy it for him for Christmas instead.0 -
Why ask?...of course he shouldn't get it! My nephew gets to play 18 games (chav type dad) and apart from the graphic content he's not got the dexterity or mental skills needed and can't get past level 1...a complete and utter waste of money.0

Presumably somewhere between virtual warfare and hardcore !!!!!!.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair0 -
No way in Hell.
I'd be gutted if my son even asked for it.0
