Dh put the fire on this afternoon before I went upstairs as he said he was cold - we'd already got the heating on. I came downstairs a couple of hours later - the fire was still on but he'd taken his jumper and socks off - but he wasn't too hot just nice! I told him he must have been hot to take his jumper off and made him turn the fire off - stupid man!

greenbee hugs, I would make some plans of my own of nice things to do, and stick to them whatever else happens. Lots of hugs, I totally sympathise.
Thanks. I'm going to try, but at the moment I don't much feel like making plans. My mother has forced me to do the laundry (haven't done any since I got back from San Diego by the looks of things!). She's hoovered downstairs and done the ironing (decided the duvet covers could miss the iron this time), and I've made about a million mince pies (to freeze). One load of laundry is sheets from OH's flat (I have a TD, he doesn't), which I'll take over when I stay there at christmas (might as well make sure I have clean sheets!) as he's said I can still stay. Hopefully we'll talk during the week.

I'm also thinking seriously of moving to the same town as my DB & SIL. I know I can afford to get something nice there (I've paid off most of my mortgage, now earn a lot more than I did when I took it out, and house prices in this particular village are still relatively high as there is very little movement), and because my work is flexible (except when I'm travelling), I could then help with childcare. Their working hours mean that drop off and pick up at nursery will be a problem when SIL goes back to work - if I could do those for them and maybe have my nephew one day a week it would help enormously. We'd just have to plan very carefully round my travel so they took their holiday then, or my mum stayed with them, or SIL worked from home (she is allowed to, just not every day like me!). I haven't mentioned moving too them yet, but have said that when they're working out how to deal with childcare, I can always do nursery pickup and/or drop off and arrange my work day round it.

Hugs to those in need, and condolences on the bunny deaths :(

Sometimes it seems that the going is just too rough.
And things go wrong no matter what I do.
Now and then it seems that life is just too much.
But you've got the love I need to see me through.

    Hi

Happy birthday, crafty! (Hope I've got this right)
Apologies to everyone involved in the CC swap. :o I simply didn't make it to the post office on time and will have to do e-mail cards for everyone whose addy is on the list. I feel really bad, as I remember how much fun I had opening my cards last year.

Got back from Germany at 5.20am this morning (school trip) and spent the day trying to recover. This week has been absolutely mad and I ended up with 45min to pack and get ready on Wednesday afternoon. Fortunately I'd already written a careful list and got in the bath in the morning. It snowed heavily in Cologne on Thursday and I was worried about getting back, but we had no problems.

I'm still shattered and keep napping, but my stomach is more settled. I've not eaten regularly all week and the trip just made it worse, but we had a great time.

I'm about to have another nap and then I'll look at present lists and budgetting. Anything beyond that is a bonus.

I'd like to join in with Natty's challenge, but will aim for teatime, rather than noon. I'm usually still wrapping in the early hours, so early evening would be great.

Don't think I'll be able to catch up with the thread, so hugs, congratulations, commiserations and spoons as appropriate. I'm hoping to be around until the end of the holidays, anyway.
Have a good Sunday, everyone. x

Triker - well done on the progress you're making with the house. Are you feeling more positive about it now?

Thanks for all the hugs and good wishes. I think it'll be a difficult few weeks, but I'm sure I'll get through it. Off to bed now... hot water bottles need making, and I have piles of clean laundry to deal with too!

Yes hun, I'm feeling better about it, whilst I'd love to move for lots of reasons, I've given up on the idea in the short term.

Mainly because it makes no financial sense to move at the mo, also I really don't have the need for a larger house mow as DD1 has moved out so house composition has changed.

Plus there isn't anything particulalry that's caught my eye. Hubby has a new job for a different Trust authority so we may look at relocating that way when DD2 has finished school.

Hope you have a nice time with your Mum, at least you're not on your own.

Fancy a glass of vino, may have to nip out and get a bottle, we haven't gone to the pub as it's freezing and we're saving money.

  • Took DD1 and DD2 to see Harry Potter again this afternoon - was surprised how dead York was as we went. DD1 managed fine and managed a 5 minute walk to the station to get a taxi!:j:j:T
