Emergency freezer defrost has just occurred - DD left the door not securely shut last night so there was a frost build up. Going to have chips with home grown egg for lunch then clear the car (and NN's) of snow then muck out the chicken area. The snow there has melted so it'll be easy to get the hose out and sweep everything down the drain.

Morning all - quite a bit of snow here, and it's only just stopped. Apparently our rubbish council haven't even gritted the roads despite the weatherforecast saying we'd be getting the snow, so Moon had a treacherous journey into work. I'm hoping to go out a bit later, as I need to get the last few Christmas bits, and also wanted to collect something from a freecycler. Fingers crossed they get out there with their gritters soon and clear the roads.

Sadly grit is not magic dust which simply dissolves snow. It has to be put down in the correct temperature and if heavy snow fall is forecast it is simply wasted as it gets completely covered by the snow. So your council may not be 'rubbish' but simply using their supplies wisely ;) Lots of councils now run a twitter gritter service which you can follow to see which roads are being salted and when the gritters are going out.

I've lived here for 12 years now - and EVERY year a card comes here for the previous occupants.

    And it just has.

Why does this make you mad? It would simply make me feel a bit sad that these people wanted to keep in touch and were not aware that the recipients had moved. Or wonder why them aimlessly send cards from a list just because they always have done.

Tree in the house, it is smaller than we have had in previous years as we have moved furniture this year and now have a smaller space for the tree. Kids are a bit disappointed but I'm sure it will be fine once it is decorated, it is still 6'.

Snowing very heavy here. DS3 ready for squash so hubbie will take him there whilst I unpack some of the chrismas decs which is always fun.

Managed to marzipan 2 Christmas cakes by washing hands every few seconds after coughing and spluttering. Had to be done as they are going next week so need to get them ready for icing.

Needed an hours rest afterwards - no idea if I'm going to be well enough for work on Monday

Still need to clean the bathroom and mop the floor. Also would like to top the other christmas cakes with the nut topping. See if I'm up to it later on, its going to be a rest enforced day by the looks of things

It makes me cross because I know the previous occupants - we were work colleagues - and yet they still allow this relative to send to their previous address - they seem not to have told their relative (for it IS a relative - they told me) that they moved.

I actually had to go and see them because I was getting letters from the works pension scheme for her, too - I know what they were because I was getting them at the same time - and warn her that she needed to make sure she kept her details up-to-date.

I've run out of xmas cards - oops! Well I have one pack left but they're Simpson ones so not really appropriate. I've stamped them up, going to have lunch now then hit the xmas list...

Nothing done so far! We decided to walk into town (last time i walked in was for the millenium!)
Very pleasant walk through the snow, and a market on in town. Brass band, ice rink at the side of the church, lovely! Just back and will have some lunch, then a nap :-) then I will make a start. Ho ho ho.....

Lovely pics vanilla. We've got about the same amount.

Valli - we get a card too not for the last occupants - the ones before! That must be about 15 years ago. It's a really posh printed one too.

I can hear a cat snoring! The heating must be on too high..........
