An update. Shortly after recieving the ticket I went to the local police station. I showed them the ticket and agreed it was probably a mistake and told me to write to the police head quarters. I wrote a letter explaining my issue (see my first post)and sent it recorded delivery with a copy of the ticket to the police headquarters. 5 weeks later (today) I have recieved a short letter stating that the fine stands...with no sign of an explanation of the crime I am supposed to have committed. It says I must pay the fine within 7 days of it will increase 50% or go to court. Theres certainly no way I am paying a fine (and therefore pleading guilty) without knowing what crime I am being charged with so will definitely be requesting a court hearing. Does anyone know how long it takes? ...and how much I would have to pay if I lost for some un-democratic reason?0

I know you feel aggrieved but when you first posted and was pointed to Pepipoo I looked over and saw the street view you posted.

You said your rear bumper was level with the grid cover. If that's the case I think you will find you were indeed within ten metres of the junction. If you were I would think hard about going to Magistrates court as the fine can be as high as £1000. If you can show your car was beyond 10 metres then go for it, but make certain first as it could cost you more in the end.0 -
At the beginning of my Close a company (which live at the end of the Close), park their van, with one of the A-framed advertising boards attached, right on the junction.
I have live here 3 and half years now and it has been here since I moved. When turning left into my street it does block your sight for a second. I have thought about reporting, since seeing this thread, but am not sure.
Not sure if this will work: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?client=firefox-a&hl=en&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Plymouth+PL7+2ES,+United+Kingdom&ll=50.387042,-4.035121&spn=0.000389,0.001321&t=h&z=20&layer=c&cbll=50.387111,-4.035283&panoid=Bj0CaSnnq30v2jfa69cXIg&cbp=12,172.62,,0,9.74
If it does, it's the same A-frame, however, the wee van, is now a big transit like van.
Zoom in on Hillcrest Close and Hillcrest Drive junction and you will see just how close it is.0 -
I think that's the wrong map, that's where I live (are you stalking me???;-))and there's no close there with a transit.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

This small white van, has now been replace with a transit size van, with the A-frame attached in the same close proximity to the junction.0
