Police issued parking ticket for parkng close to junction

Dorset police issued me a £30 parking ticket on saturday that states "unnecessary obstruction parking within 20m of junction" and states offense code "20 F". I was under the impression that the law says you cant park witin 10m of a junction (I was about 10m from the junction). I looked up the offense code and its "Parked in a loading gap marked by a yellow line". Theres no yellow line there and i was causing no obstruction - its a residential area and I was not obstructing any driveway etc. I have heard there is no appeal process for these tickets and that I have to tell the insurance company which means another premium hike. I have been parking in the same place for 18 months withe no problems - my narrow road is always full and this much wider road on the next block has no restrictions at all - no permits, no yellow lines. Mr wing mirror got smashed off last week whilst parked in the exact same place - its the widest road in the vicinity to park - apart from the road adajacent to mine that has no restrictions but is very busy - and does cause cars to have to give way if you park. So I am now parking here, as I dont want another ticket...and ironically am now causing an obstruction along with the other two cars parked there.
Is this worth a trip to the police station accross the road to me? Can they do anything or do i need to go to court. It would be nice to know what Ive actually done wrong! My insurance was hiked £150 this year because i made a claim against somebody that drove into my PARKED car so I really detest having to declare another offense on top of my 6 points.

DO NOT stop or park- near a school entrance
- anywhere you would prevent access for Emergency Services
- at or near a bus or tram stop or taxi rank
- on the approach to a level crossing/tramway crossing
- opposite or within 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction, except in an authorised parking space
- near the brow of a hill or hump bridge
- opposite a traffic island or (if this would cause an obstruction) another parked vehicle
- where you would force other traffic to enter a tram lane
- where the kerb has been lowered to help wheelchair users and powered mobility vehicles
- in front of an entrance to a property
- on a bend
- where you would obstruct cyclists’ use of cycle facilities

I suggest you visit pepipoo asap. They know their stuff, but fighting police tickets is never easy.0

I fully expext the advice on pepipoo to be pay up. The next will be a visit to magistrates court with its attendant extras. £30.00 will seem cheap.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

If its a FPN you have then to appeal that its a day at your local magistrates court - going to the police station wont acheive anything.
You will have to put your point to the magistrates in such a way as that they'll believe you instead of the pc who issued the ticket which aint gonna happen in reality.
Personally id put it down to experience - pay the ticket and park somewhere less likely to cause any potential obstruction. As far as declairing it to your insurers ? I cant say ive heard that one before, it would only affect your insurance if you were given points but you have'nt so forget about your insurers nowt to do with them. You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0 -
A parking ticket won't affect your insurance.0

It's not an endorsable offence, even if the OP were to let it go to court.
However, it's not worth the hassle.0 -

How does claiming against someone else's insurance make your insurance go up?
It does. Your insurers will say that because you've had a non-fault accident, you are more at risk of having another, and will increasse your premium accordingly. Strange, but true. My husband's renewal has just come through, after he was hit up the back by a lorry in September. His premium has gone up by over 50%.0 -
