take poker sites as an example, how do people on certain levels play with $75k in front of them?

The built their bankroll by playing smart with their money against clueless gamblers (most of whom usually come via sports betting/gambling backgrounds) who tried to deposit as much as they could and play as high as they could...(well thats one way, most gambling types have realised poker's not as much an easy gamble/"its all luck anyway" game.)

Someone playing with 75k in front of them may have as much as a million in their account...they might lose that 75k a few times, but if they are playing against someone who can only afford to lose that amount once or twice, then providing they are playing better than them, they'll still win at the end of the day.

Anyone sitting with 75k is just keeping that money warm for Mr Ivey anyway :rotfl:
  • As I mentioned before, I work in the gambling business.

Sites do have deposit limits for security reason, however an addicted person doesnt play only on one site.
So lets say, the limit is 600 a day in one site. But there are hundreds of sites out there, not to mention the physical casinos.
So a simple example, 600 a day x 10 sites.. thats 6000 in one day alone, times 7 days.. you have grand total of 42000!
It is possible to spend that amount of money and even more, in a less than a month if you have the resources and lack the self-control.

It is scary, needs addressing and I think whoever has a gambling issue and runs this amount of debt should pay everything back. Simply because if you dont bother to pay, its most likely you will do it again.. but if you have to work your socks off to pay everything back, a lesson will be learned.
  • But how did they get 1 million in their account as you say? not by depoisting $100 daily limit into an account did they, so by your theory everyone
that plays at big tables with huge amounts in front of them won a large percentage of that? your talking nonsense mate
  • Theres people, well millionaires that play on-line poker that would start at the biggest tables possible, their not bothered if they
lose as they can afford it, they might not even be that good at the game, how do they get a huge deposit in in the first place to start playing at those levels?

Each site has a different policy and as with everything else in the world, every policy can adjust! I am pretty sure VIP`s have different rules, so to speak. ;)
  • Yes i know all that im just giving examples, remember were only talking about 35k i was just going to the extreme.

Ummm....take a look at high stakes cash tables, what will you see?

You'll see every seat but one filled up by all the regulars who everyone knows has built up their bankrolls up over YEARS of hardwork with an initial $100 deposit or whatever. And they are all preying on the sucker who wants to ante up next to them with money straight out their pocket...this is their bread and butter (only when egos are at stake will they play against each other).

This is why I will never go to GA.....It amazes me to think that people really don't know all this, yet they'd willingly put up their money to take a shot. If Tiger Woods laid you 100:1 at any price you could afford on the golf course, you'd still never take the offer.

In the case of casinos, for example roulette, the casino makes it obvious from the start what a rip it is. Bet on 0, get 35:1 on your bet. But there are 37 numbers on the wheel....so the odds of hitting are number are then obviously 36:1.... how do you make up for the loss if you are only receiving 35:1??!!!! This stuff is simple kids maths...anyone losing vast amount of money in the games shouldn't be capable of having so much money available to them...
  • Agreed, 35k for someone with a gambling problem and the resources is nothing really. Can spend double that in no time at all.

On-line poker is hardly rocket science mate :rotfl:
  • and yet again missing the point.

An addicted person will not look at the situation as this: oh, all regulars ready to take my money.

Someone with gambling problems will go there and think: I will recoup what I lost last night, this time.

.... then it doesnt happen.. they either try again or just move on to another site.

or.. they win and then think: oh, its my lucky strike.. I will play bigger and win bigger.

Dont judge anyone, just try to see things through their eyes and if you can send them a constructive message.. thumbs up for you.. if not, might as well read and run because THIS will probably put the OP off.
