Lois-E i would be very interested in your spreadsheet.

I have looked at locoblade's spread sheet and i think i am a bit scared of it...so something that would just keep tabs on my balance and over payment would be great..

    Thanks for the encouragement!

Cake has very kindly checked my spreadsheet over and it seems to be working on Google Docs. Here is a link to it.

The numbers are not my actual mortgage - I just made them up for publication. Cells with little orange triangles in the corner have notes - hover over them with your mouse and you will see an explanation of how to use the spreadsheet. There are two sheets in the file - a worksheet with lots of numbers and a chart sheet with a graph of the mortgage over time. The way in which it converts the AER to a daily rate assumes that interest is compounded monthly. If that's not the case, you'll need to alter it slightly.

    Constructive feedback appreciated. :)

ETA Found another error that got introduced when Google Docs converted it from Excel. Have corrected it 00:32 1/8/2011. If you copied the file before that time, you might want to copy it again, or at least the formulae in the final two columns.

Good morning. No.98 with August's update.

Just paid the 1st £2000.00 OP to my new mortgage. New balance £238,000:j

Off to list some things on E Bay to try and raise some funds towards grocery budget. I've decided to put any extra towards this then what ever is left in bank account at end of month can either go into savings or mortgage OP for following month.

Well done to everyone on this month's OPs so far.:T

    Hi

My first regular overpayment went out today and feeling inspired (and had a small wage increase) I have upped the regular overpayment to £79 per month :)

    Thanks for sharing Lois!!

My regular OP SO left my account today for £208. Just waiting to to see it hit the mortgage but expect the balance to be around £31575.00 and my OP's now total £5753 out of the £6000 target for this year. My LTV however isn't improving but this is largely due to the continued decline in House Prices rather than the amount of debt I have.

OP's are going to remain at this level for the foreseeable future as my monthly budget which has been squeezed just like everyone else's now has to include a private prescription - not sure how much this is going to work out pm - hopefully no more than around the £20 mark but I've also paid £400 other fees.

I've also treated myself to an Xbox 360 with Kinect. :rotfl:First time I've owned a games console in my life! I've just turned 40 so I can only put it down to a midlife crisis. I've ordered a fitness 'game' (checked different places and found cheapest of course) and we also want to get up off the sofa a bit more in the evenings so will be trying some of the fun ones like Kinect Sports & Dance Central. With the curtains closed of course.

I got the best deal possible £199, used a cashback credit card and when I pay it off next month it will be funded mostly by Birthday money....for the past X number of years I've either used any Birthday money for savings or OP's so am trying hard not to feel too guilty about it....but I did find it very hard to actually make the purchase and after weeks of messing around I was in the end frog-marched into the shop by my BF who was fed up of listening to me go on about it. Anyway the deed is done now and I will be setting it up tonight - I only hope I don't switch it on and think 'I could really do with a new telly'

  • #192 reporting in for August OP of £500. GoogleDocs updated.

Next month will be my last regular OP for the foreseeable future as I am definitely being made redundant. Will be taking some time off work before looking for another job, so want to keep my available funds as high as possible. The ideal scenario will be that I take a few months off, then find a job quickly and end up with some spare cash to OP the mortgage or save (as savings are currently giving me a slightly better rate after tax than my mortgage is costing me). Its a bit scary as I will be officially unemployed, which I never have been before, but I feel like this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me to have a break from work for a while.
What goes around comes around.....I hope!
