Fillyfop - what an eye opener! I'm hooked already, and now looking for the next £50 to chuck at the mortgage :D

Which calculator are you using? The MSE one is good for a quick illustration. But I think the best one (unless you are using it already) is Locoblades Spreadseet - Its the dogs B's !!
  • Ooh, I've been using the MSE one. Linky please? :D

    Me-no-linky, me-stupid

Search for the user name Locoblade. He has a thread called 'My Mortgage Calculator' and his sig contains a link to his spreadsheet. When I first used it I wanted to waltz round the room in a ballgown singing 'A Whole New World' a la Disney Princess. But I didn't - instead I spent pleasureable hours inputting and faffing.

The only thing to bear in mind is that it calculates interest on a monthly basis rather than daily (which is how most mortgages now work) so the end of month figure is always a little out (couple of £ on a small mortgage). I just over-write it every month with the correct balance.

    Enjoy!

  • No worries, stumbled across it myself anyway. Here it is for anyone else:

Hmm, I may be some time!
  • Ooh I love it! Though on the monthly table, you're supposed to be able to edit the cells in yellow (such as monthly overpayment, if you pay a different amount each month), though I come up that I can't modify it.
