    After a bit of eBaying and downgrading the HiFi / AV equipment February overpayment currently stands at £1,750.

    There may be another £250-£350 to add, once all my auctions are finished next week.

    £75 OP going in today. Not been paid for five weeks so I'm quite happy with that!

    Thanks very much gallygirl, cake, and curlygirl! :T

    I appreciate your thoughts on this. I applied for the FD account yesterday so we'll see how it goes. I will still declare when the money is saved as an offset.

    Take care all,

    Fluffysox - You are closing some accounts - are you going to be opening up new? If so have you checked out the current switching offers around - between £50 and £100 to move accounts (See MSE Banking page). Are you a Halifax Reward Account customer? £5 a month. I've also got a Halifax Clarity Card as well (Which I took out after I closed my old Halifa Credit Card) £5 a month for spending £300. All mounts up. NatWest gave me £150 for switching current accounts 18 months ago and I'm consdering switching again this year to reap another £100 somewhere.

    Just been on the phone to Halifax, as said previously, we are going to use our existing joint Reward account as our main account and then have individual reward accounts for "spends". At first the customer services guy said: "you'll just have to write to all your direct debits advising them of the new bank details" to which I responded "do you not have a switching service?". "Erm..." (pause while he asks his supervisor) "Well it turns out we do have a switching service, which is available to existing customers and we pay you a £50 bonus for moving 2 or more direct debits"
    RESULT!!!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.
    That'll be £75 in total from Halifax this month plus from closing one current account and one credit card account I've found another £25. This'll all go to the February OP.:j:j:j.

    That's fantastic uzubairu!
    I don't think we've got any snazzy electronics to sell but I'm aiming to find and list 10 items at half term. It all adds up. ;).

    I'm listing 24 items this weekend (only 5 are HiFi related) including a basic unlocked mobile phone, 3 handbags, 2 pairs of hardly worn shoes and an old laser printer (replacement cartridge was £70 and was never bought).
    Some of it is utter c**p, but I am going to see if I can get something for it before I have to take it to the tip.
