    I agree with skintscotslass!

It's a really interesting list black taxi :T but it also reminded me of the horrendous leap my mortgage rate took from about 9% mid '88 to somewhere over 18% (I think it actually hit 20%) in late '89. Those were truly horrid times. In late '89 my MIL who was living with us passed away and then OH was made redundant a few weeks later. By Feb '90 my job was gone too.

Ah well, it makes me even more thankful for the sense I've now seen (my LBM) thanks to the lovely MSE people here and for the low rates now to help with getting rid of the flaming thing completely.

    All the best,
    Spigs

Great to see everyone's figures for January!

    No.152 - target £12,250 in 2011 - January total = £3,187.31/£12,250 - wow!
I am amazed how well the year has started and most of it has come from the 'do i really need it' mantra stopping me buy extravagent things - I'd saved so hard for my holiday and when I got home with money left over I wanted to blow it but then realised there was no point, nothing I needed and would be better placed elsewhere. And my lifestyle is not suffering at all, just small changes.

Looking forward to seeing the end of January stats for everyone!

Hi all, number 123 checking in...

My goal is paying £10K off my mortgage rather than £10K overpayment... ooopsss (got a bit confused) but i think i'll stick to that if thats ok Cake cos i like round numbers!:o works out approx £4K overpayment for the year.

Had brain cell failure this month with my money(seems to happen a lot:rotfl:), ended up moving £1K to my credit card instead of moving it to my bills account!! so i've had to use savings to pay my bills whilst there is £600 sitting on my credit card unused. :( it'll get used next month so it's only a timing issue really.. no biggy!

So my total payment & overpayment this year has been £597.80 - hopefully i'll be able to put my savings back next month (expecting big overtime pymt) and then i'll be back on track!!
    Mortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.

If you need it do try giving your credit card company a ring and they might be able to reverse the payment or refund the part of it that is in credit. I accidentally paid a credit card statement twice once and got the second payment refunded no problem. :rotfl:
