What to wear, when travelling long haul

Hi

Just wondered what you wore when travelling, do you dress up in the hope of an upgrade? Or scruffy and comfy look?

I am travelling down under with my hubbie and 2 young boys- so no chance of an upgrade!

I myself will be going for the smart casual look-with a change or 2 each just in case. Not sure on footwear as yet, and do i invest in flight socks aswell? Might treat myself to some crocs- a type of shoe.

Any hints and tips for best clothing- male or female as both types flying!

Make sure you don't wear your birthday suit.

Seriously though, Keep it comfy. I normally take a change of clothes to change into when I'm flying long haul. I.e. wear jeans onto the plane and then change into track bottoms and a loose tee-shirt / jumper.

Also I wear slip on shoes, so they are easier to take off and put on when going to the toilet.

Re socks, I just wear the socks provided on the plane.

I also take ear plugs and eye mask.

I guess for the kids couple of changes of clothes just in case they throw up. Remember its one piece of hang luggage per person though.

Just make sure you're as comfortable as you can be ...

Depending on the weather in your destination, I normally go for a pair of loose linen trousers and a presentable t shirt, with a nice fleece (or hoodie!) to go on top.

From a woman's point of view, I would never travel in jeans, as they are far too restrictive. Definitely wear flight socks, they are not the sexiest of things but I would rather wear them than end up in hospital (or worse).

Knowing what the airlines can be like, I also take a pashmina with me to use as a pillow and/ or blanket. Also, if you're allowed, a good moisturiser and lip balm.
    Gone ... or have I?

I always wear Rohan Goas (they do ladies and gents). They have elasticated waist and are extremely comfortable. They also dry very quickly so you can rinse them through when you arrive and have got something to wear again throughout your holiday.
  • Rohan Goas- what are they- trousers? joggers? where do you get them? and do they do short leg? i`m only 5ft 1 in.

Looks like I should invest in some pettie joggers-smart-but casual instead of my normal jeans.

Realy all I have been thinking about is the kids! as usual i come last!
