Can Credit Checks be done without permission

So if you had a credit account and used it , what made you think you didn't have to pay? You should pay and for not I hope you never get credit again as your bang out of order.
I never requested a credit account with Jacamo, They gave me one, without me requesting one. Secondly my credit rating as 935 so I will get credit if wanted, I pay my debts if I asked for debt if! However if a company lends wrecklessly like JD Williams I see no reason to pay, especially if they gave credit without me requesting it or signing for it! Secondly if you actually read before posting you will see I DO NOT have credit with PremierMan and pay in cash, so they had no right to run a check!0 -
Hmmm thats very strange I have no idea why it was showing differently on mine, I have a printed copy of them as they were on the day I registered and a saved copy on my computer which do not mention credit checks, I have written to them and am waiting a reply.0 -
Sounds as if they might be quite wise to do a check given there are customers out there who take goods and don't want to pay for them.
Well they can do credit checks freely if someone requests a credit account, I paid cash so they had no reason to run a credit check! seconly I did offer to return the items to Jacamo but they refused to accept the return.0 -
For all the flamers, here is a copy of the Terms and Conditions as they were when I registered! hxxp://deludeddonny.posterous.com/premierman they are in PDF format so can be downloaded0

So if a company does a credit check it is intrusive and badly behaved. If not it lends wrecklessly or even perhaps recklessly. And you decided whether to pay or not according to whether you approve of their methods. Get real!0 -

Shees, do you NOT listen, I NEVER asked for credit! They cannot run a credit check without permission, I never gave Jacamo permission! and certainly did not give PremierMan permission this time! I will pay when legally required to do so, I gave Jacamo my Solicitors details and told them they should take it up with them, they never did and they removed it from my credit file. Why would a company that operated 100% within the law decide to not only write off debt but also remove it from a persons credit file??0 -

Good for you, if it makes you feel good about yourself then I am happy for you, If someone passes you in the street and says here is £100 or whetever, and mentions nothing about it being a loan they cannot ask you the next day to pay it back.
if that makes me a thief then so be it. :T0 -

Your just a blagger you gave them permission to run a credit check by agreeing to there terms and conditions.

Donny, have another look at post #19.
To save you going back, there is a link to a Bing cache of their T&Cs as they were on 03 December 2010.
That date is a week before you started this thread.
Here is that link again.
In post #16 you imply that PremierMan changed their T&Cs on 11 December 2010.
Clearly that did not happen as the first sentence on 03 December 2010 was...Data Protection
We will make searches about you at credit reference agencies who will supply us with credit information, as well as information from the Electoral Register.0
