I'm sorry this has happened to you. All the advice I have, is that in future try and not feel rushed. You are spending your hard earned money. They are giving you a service. You're the customer. Can you imagine being in, just say, a clothes shop and they start serving the customer behind you before they've even put your purchases in a bag? Worse still, they just hand you your purchases and expect you to put them in a bag on your own. This is one of my pet peeves - feeling i'm in the way when the next customer's shopping is coming down the conveyor belt when I haven't even got mine all packed away yet - and we spend a small fortune in these shops as well.
I hope you get your money back.0 -
I took two console games worth £50, back to a well known supermarket, having not even opened them as son informed me they were for the wrong make of console! when the CS opened them to check them, they were empty! I explained that I hadn't checked them and perhaps they weren't put in, in the first place. Not possible she said, the cashier would have requested them to be fetched from the stock room. I explained that the cashier just put them in the bag and didn't ask anyone to fetch anything. It was implied that I was lying and just trying to get money I wasn't owed. After asking them to check the CTV which they refused to do, I asked the manager to check the stock and after a lot of umming & ahhing she reluctantly agreed.
Low and behold she came back with the exact same discs that should have been in the cases saying, " you're very lucky as we just happen to have an extra copy of these two games" At no time did she admit their mistake.
I wrote to head office with a complaint.0 -

What a cheeky mare lol. Hmm, the reason you have two extra copies of those discs is because you didn't put them in the cases!
OP, I really hope it turns out well for you. It's awful when you lose money, or in this case perhaps, have it stolen, especially around Christmas time. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -

At best it would be a bit extreme, at worst it's obsessive-compulsive.
i don't do that because i check the receipt and i don't pay with cash, i was stating an idea that could be used by someone. I am a normal person thanks very much, don't be so rude. did your family not teach you manners?0 -

I merely pointed out that this would be very extreme and obsessive-compulsive and not something that 'normal' people would do and I stand by that.
If you've taken offence then so be it but I would still argue that marking every note that you come into contact with is not something that would be considered 'normal' by the vast majority of people.0 -
I'd try the police again, tell them that as the till was correct you can only assume the the check out operator stole your cash and you want it investigated. Tell them that it would be ridiculous to spend just £5 in cash and the rest on credit card. Make sure you tell Asda first though as it may make them investigate harder.
You would be surprised when I worked in a supermarket it happened quite regularly. Sometimes it was even less than £5.0 -
I work for Tesco and was a checkout manager for 3 years. If Asda's cash procedures are anything compared to ours I would ask for another till check and a history of the till checks for that week. The till could have been £45 short before you got there, in which case after you left it would have been 'bang on'. Tills only reset to short or over on a Monday at the start of a week however they will be counted before trade each morning and at intervals during the day.
I think it's a bit much for some to be making the assumption that the money was stolen by the cashier. Yes it does happen but there is no evidence of this. My advice would be to contact Asda customer service and explain what happened including the checkout manager not getting back to you when he said he would - twice. £45 is a lot of money and I certainly would have put this at the top of my priorities for the day.0 -
Went shopping in my local asda last night, as everyone knows it gets stressful at the checkout when your on your own and they start to scan items ready for you to pack whilst your at the other end still loading the conveyor belt up.
I have absolutely no problem with asking the Checkout staff not to start scanning until I have finished unloading the trolley. I have never met with any resistance to this request. This is one of my pet peeves - feeling i'm in the way when the next customer's shopping is coming down the conveyor belt when I haven't even got mine all packed away yet - and we spend a small fortune in these shops as well.
And similarly, I do not pay for my shopping until I have finished putting it all into bags and back into the trolley. So nobody else's shopping is being scanned with me "in the way".
I'm sorry if that annoys anybody behind me!:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

exactly, you just ask the CO to go slow so you have arent being snowed under the shopping
i always scanned the shopping to match the packing speed of the customer eg an eldery lady i would go slower and a young person who was capable of packing i would go slightly faster plus we were always taught to ask if any help was needed with it0 -
