Funny how we are dismissive of "property !!!!!!" - but like the proverbial car crash, must watch
A new, more in depth, series of COAST was on BBC 2 at the same time. Well I never knew about Dungeness, not in my top 10 with 2 nuclear Power Stations though, and with coastal erosion neither is Beachy Head. Now looking forward to the rest of the series - first one, I thought, tried to do too much per episode and missed out too much.
Watching Sophie was a bit tempting though! _pale_
But I resisted. :A
I posted because I wanted to see if I lived in the top 5 - nothing to do with trashing places where people live. Dont make me feel as if I've done something wrong by wagging your finger at me!0 -

Whilst I know what you mean, this is actually very misleading. There is nothing about the Scottish mainland that results in lower life expectancy - what they mean is that the life expectancy of the current population is lower than in other parts of the UK.
There are many reasons for this, but it's down to the lifestyle of the individuals who currently live there. If any of us moved there, it wouldn't be the case that our life expectancy would fall, simply due to the change in location.
I think it's rather odd that they looked at life expectancy - unless there is something in the area that directly leads to lower life expectancy, it doesn't seem to be a relevant factor. Well, not to me at least
Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac

filo wrote:refused to watch the program on principle - i think this kind of publicity is very damaging - the last thing the so-called 'worst' areas need. Agree with Al Mac - it's possible to show anywhere in a bad light.
Very true, especially when it comes to the formerly much wealthier areas in Wales and the North, where industry is no longer the driving force of the economy that it used to be. Feel very sorry for the people living there - looking at those areas actually reminded me of film footage of those proud marching miners who lost their jobs.
I did watch the programme, but found little in it that was of interest. It was incredibly shallow, and the attempts at humour were spectacularly cringe-worthy.
It was property !!!!!! at its worst.0 -
victory - i was wondering that too.
Didn't think she was a patch on Kirsty, it's Kirsty's quirkiness that makes us love her, Sophie is just another media darling. How many times did she flick her hair at the camera...?
Anyways back to the point... i quite enjoyed it in a trashy TV kind of way, didn't take any notice of it of course.0 -

When Kirsty made her appearance it was like a breath of fresh air and I really wanted her to take over, but she didnt. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -
