Don't know how a mere postman, who actually knows and does the job, has the audacity to argue with the woman who knows everything about everything.
First of all, you have taken a random post and accepted it as verbatim. All my local lads have been issued with boots for the snow and ice and are quite impressed with them. I can accept there may be some local issue about injured postmen and unions, but that's what they are there for.
Secondly, we don't live in some poverty stricken east european hellhole - this is Great Britain. Your comparisons with the suggested work ethic in these countries is laughable. I would be toodlimg off to work in the Polish postal system in any weather, as the opportunity to steal is a great incentive.
Thirdly, your "been there done that" comment made me gasp. You've worked in a local shop and are now an expert on industrial relations.
Finally, as a self confessed infrequent seller on ebay, you conclude it's far too easy and it may be time for a cull. Amazing.
Is there anything you know about which you have actually done at any serious level?
  • Woah that's some speedy delivery!

    Morning paper round?
  • We have just moved house so our mail has reduced anyway. I did have a parcel delivered that only took two days but that was in the middle of the two snow falls and I wasn't expecting it quite so soon. I have also just ordered something on ebay (BIN too good to miss) and I know it won't arrive before christmas and wouldn't be surprised if I don't get it until the new year. To be honest I couldn't care less either, but I am not waiting for christmas gifts.
  • Our son has just admitted he is waiting for a Package from Rout One since the 25th pf last month and when he phones them they have an automated answer on which states - Due to the adverse weather conditions we are short staffed and will be back to normal as soon as we can!
No apology or any way to find out where his packages is!

  • I ordered an item on Amazon on the 13th Dec, expected delivery 18th Dec - still not arrived (this is a fairly expensive Xmas pressie). Ordered a book for myself on Sat due to arrive on the 30th and it arrived today!

Both of those pieces of advice are daft. RM do not prioritise new mail. Where on earth did you get that idea? As for sellers chasing up the post - words fail me.

Yes they do. My husband was only allowed today to deliver a cage full of parcels that have been in the back of the sorting office for 'a while' - they earliest date he found on a parcel was 8th December.

All the postman in the office were told they must get the current post out before those could be done.
