  • Thankyou! and sorry to go off topic :)

I am bad enough at mixing cards up as it is, although the keyring card does sound convenient as i'm much more likely to be able to put my hands on my keys in a hurry rather than rifle through my purse for the cards.

This thread also makes me hungry/thirsty :o

Well as the original poster I am amazed how this thread keeps going. It was intended as a quick vent to make me feel better!!!
Anyway on the subject of coffee houses we stopped at Costa on Friday on our way back from the West country and were charged £2.99 for a latte in a cardboard cup! Now that is what I call a rip off! OK, OK I saw the price list but after being stuck in traffic for hours was desperate.

People like joining in - it is very sociable.

And the Costa coffee was not a "rip-off"

The price was advertised and you agreed to pay it.;)
  • I like Starbucks even though I hate coffee. Luckily they do such yummy hot chocolate and decent teas that I can go in there with my coffee addict friends and still enjoy my drink!

I loved Starbucks, until one time we ordered a coffee, 2 sandwiches and I got an orange juice.

I had this sales assistant come up to me and accuse me of stealing the orange juice. Disappointing.

I'd stop going to these coffee places if you think they are all rip-offs.

My attitude is Starbucks/Costa are a treat. If I want a cup of coffee when I'm out and don't want to pay those kind of prices -I go elsewhere.
(My last visit to Starbucks was last weekend in New York)

As for Debenhams......I really can't believe that someone so aware of the cost of things didn't check their receipts. I do it automatically

duchy, I agree they are just for a special treat. But we were traveling, stuck in slow traffic and desperate for a stop! So went to Costas, what got me was we weren't even offered a china cup!

Thats standard at services, many people take their drinks with them back in the car, and its far easier for the staff to clear up when they are busy. Personally I prefer them that way as the drink stays hotter longer.;)

I am suprised this thread is still going on at 6 pages! Check your receipts next time, I always do. I would think being MSE would preclude most of us from visiting Starbucks in the first place. I haven't been in one for at least 2 years, and I am almost mortgage free. (admittedly not only because of shunning Starbucks).

Starbucks is my treat, I have cut down drastically though, used to be on 2 a day.
