Anyone know the answer to this because I can't find it anywhere...
Graduates who got a loan before 1998 are on a separate system as current graduates now. They even pay different interest rates. The new system will not effect graduates.0 -

In principle the poll tax was (and probably still is), a good idea. If properly set up and administered it would make a lot of sense and would be greener too."Never underestimate the mindless force of a government bureaucracyseeking to expand its power, dominion and budget"Jay Stanley, American Civil Liberties Union.0 -
Intertesting that students (normally so outspoken about 'rights'), suddenly don't like the actions of a democratically elected government.

Hold on. Can you remind me again just when the Lib Dems won the election? Did I blink and miss another election? Because I thought they won a rather pathetic 57 seats and there is a coalition Government in power with 308 of them being Conservatives.
So they did not 'Lie', they all had their chance to vote but not enough to make a difference.
its time you all got off the Labour run gravy train and realised that the country needs cash, and if you cannot contribute to your fees, get a job on top of your education like many of us in the 80's and 90's used to do.
How much soare time do you get each week? Enought to do a few hours work a week?
We did not get paid £30 a week for staying on and going to college. I worked and went to college in the evenings - as did many other people. You are adults now, you are old enough to drive a car, drink alcohol, get married and vote - maybe it's time took responsibility and started looking after yourselves and paying your way through life instead of expecting the state to do that for you. And if you choose education over getting a job then you should have to pay.
The money has run out, they cannot give you what they have not got.
No-one answered my question though. How much per week, on average, do students spend on fags, booze and take-aways (and drugs?)? Anyone care to give answer?0 -

how about you stop shouting at students and realise how lucky you were to get through uni before fees. there were just as many dossers in your day; perhaps more so since they didn't pay a penny. how can you have this little empathy? i worked as a student, but i don't know many jobs that can earn £9000 for fees, plus all living expenses, plus leave time to study.
lib dems promised to oppose increasing fees. they have now increased them. maybe it isn't new (labour in 1997 anyone?) but i reserve the right to be annoyed about it!
fwiw, when i was a student i didn't smoke, have take aways or take drugs, and i drank on cheap nights within my budget. but don't let the facts get in the way of a nasty rant made up of gross generalisations!
smacks of pulling up the ladder once you've got on it.....:happyhear0 -

It also doesn't say much for students that they supported the Lib-Dems simply because they thought that it was to their financial advantage to do so.
Rioting and self interest. So much for the moral high ground.
Furthermore, if students are so clever, than how come they were gulled so easily by a bunch a cheating, third rate, snake oil salesmen?"Never underestimate the mindless force of a government bureaucracyseeking to expand its power, dominion and budget"Jay Stanley, American Civil Liberties Union.0
