Your favourite car..

..no matter what age, condition etc...

What car rocks your boat? You know, your first car, the car you first "ahem'd with your lady", the one you first got under the bonnet with.... and why... ;o)

535d M Sport, remapped to 340BHP, 500lb/ft torque. Bought it brand new in May 07.

Should never have sold it, and will probably never be able to afford another one :(

  • ford escort rs turbo series 2 90 spec, mainly because the parts are cheap, easy maintainable, powerfull, tuneable and are still head turners. when i was growing up all i wanted was a rs turbo. modelpicture.php?id=3545

Ok might be an odd choice , but a genuine one , 1st car is always the best .
And to those who mock , what were you driving at the age of 16 ??
  • Rover SD1 3500 V8 is the favourite car I've owned followed closely by my rover 827's. Then it's my old 3500 range rover vogue V8.
Currently running a 12 year old 1.7 GM engined 59 BHP Corsa Diesel. Bummer.

I do have a big soft spot for the Mk4 Escort even though most folk would say they are terrible. Mine was only a 1.6 "sport".

I just love the squareish 80s cars over the rounded blob cars we get today.

With that in mind, even though I've never driven one and will probably never get to even see one, let alone own one, I'm going to plump for the Subaru XT.

    xtrearside.jpg

It has an earlier version of the boxer engine used in the Imprezas, with turbo and 6 cylinder versions available, as well as a bunch of crazy features like a switch to go between 4WD and FWD, a digital dashboard that tilts in combination with the tilt adjust on the steering wheel and a gearstick shaped like an airplane throttle control.

If I must go for a car I've actually owned then I'm afraid I'm going to have to be really boring and pick my current one, the Nissan Cefiro SE-4

    Ceffy_Detailed.JPG

Why? I love obscure and unusual cars (as if the XT didn't give that away!) and there's only a handful of these in the country, even fewer (possibly only one) of the 4WD versions, however it shares and the engine, suspension and RWD/4WD drivetrain with the R32 Skyline GTS4, and the rest of the parts come from the S13 200SX, which means that maintaining it actually becomes feasible, so long as no-one dents a panel or cracks a light.

I like being able to drive around without any attention from police and chavs because they don't recognise it as a performance car, no hassle at the lights, none of the "random" spot checks I used to get in my old Subaru. Cheap insurance too!

I am determined to own one of each of these at some point in my life...

    GMC Yukon XL Denali.

meanwhile I'll run this on converted veg oil so I can afford to run the yukon! :p

BMW 730Ld - don't like the new shape one though.

However I have to agree with Lum on the subject of 80s cars being so much more interesting. I think these are the only 2 I would consider owning if I could own anything, just because I like huge ridiculous cars.
