    Lightbulb Moment June 2006

Unsecured Credit at it's highest around 50K in 2001

    Debt Free Date July 2011

Pearl of Wisdom, Use a simple finance software package and stick with it, this is the one thing that really helped me to see the full picture.

Those of you that have some way to go just keep at it, it will happen. The feeling you get when that last payment is made and you see zero balance on your last ever credit statement is a truly wonderful moment.

    Well Done!

I actually have savings now and am stressing over how to put them to good use :-) makes a change from the old days when my bank balance would go from full to empty in 24 hours as the direct debits came out. It's only been a few months since the last payment was made on the last card, I don't think it has really sunk in yet how much better off we are.

Keep at it you guys, it really is the most amazing experience to know that you have made it and you will never make the same silly mistakes again.
Unsecured Credit at highest point around 50K :(
Debt Free Day July 2011 Zero unsecured credit :)

    Mortgage July 2007 285,000 Euros
Mortgage Jan 2012 147,500 Euros (and falling)

    b. Debts at their highest - fluctuated with extra borowing etc but reckon I've paid off in the region of £25k on loans and CCs since graduating in 2003
    c. Debt-Free Date - 17th October 2011 :j
    d. Your one perl of wisdom - What worked for me? I am online banking mad, I know every penny that comes in and goes out, and make sure every spend counts. Even the 50p saving here and there are small victories that I celebrate, and will continue to do so now I'm debt free
    e. And if you had a debt diary on DFW, a link to it - wasn't brave / interesting enough to have one!
