I am now officially debt free, I owed just under 9k and it's taken me 8 years
to pay it back but I finally got there with the massive help of the debt free poster and CCCS/Stepchange.
I was debt free on paper a few weeks ago but today I got the lovely big congratulations from stepchange in the post this afternoon and I haven't stopped grinning sinceI'm not an AE I'm just an idiot who forgot to update email details, went away for a bit and then tried to come back after the old laptop died:rotfl:

I officially became debt-free in May 2015 when my last ever loan payment went out. I owed around £11k at my highest although it has dropped and increased over the years, since I got my first loan aged 18 (a massive 16 years ago).
I now have the lovely sum of £1150 sat in my emergency fund and it feels great.
This site has been a godsend over the years I've used it so it feels amazing to finally be posting on the debt-free roll of honour board.
Thanks to everyone who has helped me along the wayDebt free since May 20150 -

I must apologise for overlooking this thread when I became debt free in September , can I be added now please . My LBM was April 2010 with debts at £18000 which I finally cleared in September . I am currently on a weeks holiday and have spent a night away in Manchester visiting their christmas markets as a treat for becoming debt free , £39 room with Premier Inn , but it was fantastic to treat ourselves . hopefully many more to come but I will still spend wisely as the 5 years have taught us the benefit of what we need against what we want and the value of our money . Congratulations to every single person on this thread and best wishes to those attempting to , it is difficult but remain focussed and every single day afterwards is a delight .0

Glad you enjoyed your trip. So much more enjoyable when you have money to pay for it rather than adding to debt0 -
