Yes, my local council (North Lanarkshire) have decided in all their wisdom that I would benefit from a fall alarm but I can't get one through them because I'm under 25 and in full time work, apparently that means i'd only be in the house to sleep and so wont black out there. There's logic for you.
Unfortunately I'm in the low wage trap so can't afford to just go out and buy one and even worse is that they told me if I was at home more (I only work 35 hours a week?) then they'd have installed and fitted it and if I was on benefits I'd only need to pay line rental and they'd pay the service cost.0 -

Could you appeal, at all?
It doesn't seem right, that just because you are working, that you won't qualify.
I could understand if you wasn't on a low wage, because there isn't an endless supply of finances, but, working on nmw, shouldn't cancel out the need that you have.
Is it possible to approach any charities for help? It would require some research, but there are lots of charities out there who offer help to disabled people, depending on circumstances. There is something delicious about writing the first words of a story. I've appealed already, they said that working tax credit doesn't count as a means tested benefit and wont budge, I was going to try again in April when the finances are divvied out for the year. I might have more luck then.
I've not really came across any charities that help adults to get this sort of thing, the assumption seems to be that something like a fall alarm for someone who blacks out without warning is easy to get from the local council. Seems they don't come across many people from North Lanarkshire.0 -

This makes no sense at all. There are 168 hours in a week.

That's what I told them! They said I'd need to spend more time at home and be on income related benefits due to budget constraints. The woman who came out was awful, basically told me that I can't possibly have something wrong with me because I work.
She was just generally awful, one of the "real disabled people have wheelchairs" squad. They did give me the number for the fire service to get a flashing smoke alarm which was a help, anything else I'm having to fund myself.0 -

The injections should work, but are not a long term option. The only real long term help you may get is from the operation, but as they will tell you when in pre-med, it might not work. If anyone ever asked me or if I were able to have got away not having it, I would as the road to recovery from it is so long and most people including your family see you back on your feet and assume you are right again. Happily for the massive majority it does, unfortunately some of us are in the other section.0 -

I'm glad you're beginning to get some spellings right but, alas, this time you used your John Wayne dictionary, instead of the Mary Poppins one you seem to be living in: it should be "woe is me"; bit trigger happy, were you?:rotfl:0 -
