  • I'd love to see how people are getting on too, I'm just taking my content writing official and running it through a business account etc, but I don't think it's a realistic alternative to proper work at the moment.

No, I don't think I will leave my normal job, but it's always nice to have a plan B in case everything goes pearshaped:cool:

    Hi
I haven't posted on this thread before but I read it while I was on maternity leave, and it helped spur me on to up up up my income!

    This is what I did:
Went from 4 to 5 days per week: £5420
Went for and gained a promotion at work: £2535
Started my own business doing science activities with kids in holidays: £2250
Sold 2 phones on the envirophone website: £18
Swapped my utilities over using Quidco: £22
Cut back on groceries by buying inferior brands: £600
Stopped buying lunch at work (well, mostly..) £120

Total income has been upped by: £10 965. Some of this will be lost in tax though..do I need to give nett figures?

Thanks very much for your inspiration on here! :T

Hi Meds. I would love to hear more about how you set up the business doing Science acitivities in the hols. I am a Science teacher but have just resigned from work for a number of reasons (not the kids though , they are the good bit of the job). This is something i would love to do - as long as I am not living and working near you (wouldn't want to steal your clients! :-)) I would appreciate your advice on how you set up, where you held your activities and what activities were popular - everything basically!!

All the best with your future moneysaving. Thanks for a really inspiring post. Allie

Me too. I'm definitely going to be counting and accounting every penny as I get my sideline business up and running, and we will be better off this time next year.
