i think i am going to join the frugal living challenge as well, any money saved will go towards this challenge i think i spend too much on the weekly shop and throw out way too much unused /out of date food so going to make a resolution for 2011 that this will be no more!So finally debt free and it feels amazing however continuing here to stay debt free.Next declutter house and body and finally swim under that waterfall x0

I'm keen to take part in this challenge.
I haven't posted on here for a while (at least since I setup a similar challenge for myself in 2009).
2010 has been quite a difficult year for me financially and I've struggled with employment so I could definitely benefit from taking part in this.
Although I made a bit of cash after my initial redundancy in 2009 from ebay, bootsaling, selling old mobile phones, etc and I no longer have those options, I realise that there are so many other ways of generating extra money!
As this is my first time, could somebody tell me what I need to do to take part?0 -
Okay, so I've been sitting thinking about how I could SAVE more money next year. I've decided that:
- Everytime I go shopping I will stick an 'store cupboard' item or three in the trolley. I feel if I have a decent store of food then I won't do the usual 'theres nothing to eat I'll just swing by the chippy'
- Buying presents in the sales - normally do this but I was pretty lax this year.
- I'm going to start getting the savings stamps for Tesco/Asda etc so that even if I have a bad month then I can always get food (already do this with my road tax)
- Buy clothes from eBay/charity shops - do this already and most of my stuff is Next, RI etc.
- Bulk cook meals and use a butcher rather than a supermarket for meat.
And to raise money:- Overtime and extra shifts (or a low cut top for my 2nd job = tips :rotfl:)
- eBay stuff
- Survey sites
- Do the closed pot thing
- Also do the virtual savings pot
- Transfer money into savings at the BEGINNING of the month as aposed to 'I'll see whats left'
- Hide the OH's bank cards :rotfl:
I can't wait till September as I will have £500 extra disposable income a month (well in the savings pot anyway!!):j0 -

Need to earn some extra money to a)clear personal debts and b) get a new (well, not new, new) car as current one is starting to get unreliable. c) help out son more with uni expenses. What I earn just covers the necessities of life and that's it, we own a small business, and there's not much for us to take out right now, it all goes to our staff and suppliers!
So I'm feeling excited about this now. It's great to be doing this with a bit of support. I'm aiming for a combination of extra earnings and savings.
Taken my first step today; applied for a census collector job. It'll be hard to fit in the hours but it's only a few weeks, and there's a few hundred quid towards the target!
Will also ebay all my junk. I have a big collection of 80s comics in boxes, never going to read them again, not worth much individually but if I can even sell 100 of them at 50p that's some starter money.
Also...I SHOULD give up smoking. For my health of course, ha ha, but that would save me around £850 in a year. Put that way it seems worth the effort. OK, new years resolution, go to the docs for stop smoking help. Someone I know at work has done fantastically giving up with NHS tablets and support group.
And I'm going to be more consistent with DooYoo. I earned £60 this whole year. If I did 15 minutes a day I could double that.
Resurrect my spare change savings bottle. Whatever coins are in my purse at the end of each week to go in there.
Then let the real earning begin...looking forward to lots of tips and help with e-baying etc.Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j
OU student: A103 , A215 , A316 all done. Currently A230 all leading to an English Literature degree.
Any advice given is as an individual, not as a representative of my firm.0
