Appliances Online - avoid!

I would say I'm quite a loyal customer of theirs - have ordered a couple of things from them in the last few years. Not any more.
Today they emailed me to say there had been an "amendment" to my order. However the email merely confirmed my delivery slot of 7-midday this Thursday.
So, smelling a rat, I called them. After 5 mins on hold, the girl who answered told me that nothing had changed and everything was fine. I asked her was she sure - and eventually she worked out that because I stay in an AB postcode (in the middle of a city of 250,000 people), the appliances won't be delivered to me, but instead to a local firm on Thursday, who will get them to me some unspecified time in the future. Very useful. Especially as my joiners are fitting my kitchen on Monday morning
They've had my order for nearly 4 weeks - and choose to tell me less than 2 days before the delivery date. This has nothing to do with the weather - apparently it's just their policy for my area.
Pretty misleading really - especially as I paid a tenner extra for a specific slot! I await a call from a supervisor.:mad:

I have recently ordered three appliances from these, their web site seems much more professional than other similar ones, and they agreed to do a pricematch too.
The main reasons I ordered from AO was their no quibble 'free' return policy, and the fact they say what they have in stock is really what they have in stock with them, as opposed to ordering from the manufacturer/supplier after customer places an order.....However...
I was assured all items were instock, and ready for delivery, within 24 hours if I wanted, so went ahead and ordered.
Nothing but problems, lies and excuses ever since!
Just for one of the items ive been told:
-Its in stock, can bedelivered tomorrow..
-We have not actully got it in our stock, but we know the manufacturer has it in theres, and we class their stock as our stock..
-It is in stock, but the warehouse missed it and didnt put it on the lorry...
-It is in stock, but when they put it on the lorry they realised it ws damaged, so took it off the lorry, there are no more in our stock but there is a new delivery of these items due in tomorrow....
-This item is discontinued and there are none left in the counrty...
-We have your item ready for delivery tomorrow (told this after being told all the other excuses):rotfl::rotfl:
I then told them that I was very pleased that the instock, forgotten, damaged, discontinued item would be delivered tomorrow, great news!! They then said they had looked on another page, and agreed it was not in stock, could not be delivered and was indeed discontinued....and have asked me to choose another one and pay the difference!!
....and the item is still showing as 'available and instock for next day delivery' on their web site, they are happy to take orders, and take your money, even when they dont have it, and know they are not ever going to get it in stock!!0 -
In the interests of fair play, I should point out that after a manager phoned me back, it has turned out that things are now sorted.
The original girl I spoke to seems have got completely confused regarding delivery postcodes, and given me the wrong information. Apparently deliveries to my area are still done by Appliances Online, not a 3rd party.
Hopefully I am still satisfied by midday tomorrow when the items are due to be delivered!0 -
Did your items arrive OK Sheepfan?
Im starting to get very twitchy now, as ive still not had a confirmation about delivery, which is supposed to have been resheduled for tomorrow (for the other items, not the discontinued one!)0 -
i constantly get that from delivery companies, they think Aberdeen is some back st village, one company receptionist even said "i don't think out lorries will fit down those roads" how effing big are their lorries? lmao0

They were scheduled to arrived between 7-12 midday, but then due the A90 being closed to a lorry fire, and various other complications, I eventually got them at 5.30pm. The drivers did phone me though in the morning so I knew what was happening.0 -
I've used Appliances Online a few times and have to say they've always been excellent. I guess there will always be exceptions though0

Yes I guess there is, I saw they had really good reviews, but then you never know whos written them! (For example Jual Domestics obviously ask their employees to do glowing reviews)
My fridge freezer did turn up today, and the delivery guys were good, texts and calls keep you informed, I think my issue was more with the sales side. Ive asked for my money back for the 'instock, out of stock, damaged, forgotten' item, but it looks like instead of crediting me for that appliance, they have charged me again for the two items I am still having (one being the Fridge freezer that arrived today, the other being the extractor thats coming next week)0 -
I have ordered from them and thought they were excellent. Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
And we were young.

Not Appliance Online but Appliance City - I ordered a washing machine and was told delivery would be 3-4 days. It ended up with their courier saying I wouldn't get it for over 2 weeks. Turned out the couriers were based in Glasgow and didn't have any other deliveries up here (also nr the backwater of Aberdeen!!) I phoned Appliance City and they were very helpful. They phoned the courier company and then phoned me back later on to see if the couriers had contacted me to schedule an earlier delivery date. The machine turned up the following day with another courier company. I'm guessing that the courier company got their knuckles rapped and had to arrange for another courier to get it delivered ASAP.
Do you know what courier company was delivering your goods?0 -
The original courier was SK Express for my delivery. They've had a lot of bad reviews online. I was told they'd be in contact within 48 hours with a delivery date, and if I hadn't heard from them within 72 hours I had to contact them. I never got a call and had to phone them. They were not helpful at all. I'm just wondering if this could have been your problem with your delivery too?0
