Fellow savers,
I have sky+ HD in the living room downstairs. In the rooms upstairs, i have just ordinary sky freesat.
I will like to transmit my paid channels upstairs. I was about to buys sky magic eye then i discover that there must be wiring from downstairs to upstairs. I cannot just do that.
I am NOT ready to be paying sky any multirooms charges.
Is there any reasonable alternatives?
Thanks.

phillips do a wireless av sender. not had much luck with the earlier variants myself but the lady at work swears by them
about £65 RRP0 -
A lot of folks give up with AV senders and go back to the good old TV-Link, nice and simple but you may need to drill some holes.
Multiroom would require another box, and mains co-axial and telephone connections. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Waoh!
I thought the most important thing is to have sky installed upstairs which i have done.

'fraid not, unless you pay for multi-room which will give you another Sky card for your upstairs box. Magic eyes connect to the RF2 connector and you need to run cable from the HD box downstairs to the aerial connection on either the upstairs TV or Sky box. Do you by any chance have normal aerial points in the two rooms containing the Sky boxes? There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

The box upstairs have their own card but its normal sky freesat cards.
There is a normal TV cable in each room and the boxes(sky) were connected directly to sky dish.

If there is a normal TV cable in each room and you don't use it for analogue or Freeview TV, you could probably reconfigure these cables to get the downstairs signal upstairs with a magic eye, provided you can access the aerial ends of those cables. There's love in this world for everyone. I dont use those cables at all.
How do i reconfigure? Is it easy?
Can i just order the sky magic NOW?0 -
You need to find the ends of each cable which aren't in the rooms. Is your aerial on the roof or in the attic? If in the attic, or the cables go to a distribution amplifier in the attic, it should be fairly straight forward. Assuming the cable ends are in the attic and have a normal aerial connector (the bottom two connectors in the link) on each, unplug them and join the two cables together with one of the connectors at the top of the picture in the link.
In the room with the HD box, plug the aerial lead into the Sky box socket marked RF2. In the upstairs room, plug the magic eye into the aerial lead, then the other end of the magic eye goes to either the aerial socket on the Sky box or on the TV.
You might have to enable the power setting via the menus on the HD box to power the magic eye. I can't quite remember the menu sequence, but if no-one else posts by this evening, I'll check it out and post again. Then you need to tune your TV to pick up the signal from downstairs on an unused channel.
Please ask if anything needs to be explained more clearly. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
