    Hi everyone

Another one here glad they are not a brass monkey:eek: I must admit our CH has been on over and above the norm.

NPM Is your wedding being videoed or can a friend/nearer rellie do it for you if M&D cannot make it. Really crossing everything that they can.

    Thoughts and prayers to Moiliere's & Jackie-0's DB's.

A bit of advice please, tried making the Lentil & Tomato soup, it is not quite the way you do due to an intolerance of onions and garlic, so made the Stock with boiling water, then heated the milk and added it, and the lentils, opened a tin of whole tomatoes (due to DH's interference:mad:) and warmed them up added them all to the SC, seasoned, and added a little onion salt and garlic powder, all I can tolerate, and not much of it at that, however, I have now blitzed it after 4+ hours and it is bitty/powdery, not a nice texture at all, do the lentils need cooking longer, or maybe the tomato seeds?

More paperwork sorted today, I feel like I am making progress now, and DH has had a marathan shredding session, hoping the recycle team come tomorrow. While he main roads here are not too bad, our cul-de-sac and the road leading to the main(ish) road and dire. Got started on the hat last night and early this morning, must do my Ccards for Spain.

Take care ((hugs), Spoons, Etc., all round. DG

Not sure about the soup problem, I've never made it in the slow cooker or used whole tomatoes although I wouldn't expect them to make any difference. I eat it left chunky but it doesn't taste bitty/powdery

Sorry I can't be more help.

    Evening everyone

Didn't get time to post before work, if I had have done it would have read like this:
    Very cold here
    Back to work today :(
    Running late
HM soup and roll for lunch, chilli out of freezer for tea
thoughts, best wishes and hugs to all the poorlies and sorelies.

First day back was horrid, wish I could win just enough on the lottery to stay at home, we have a woman at work who has been off for 4 weeks due to broken wrist, she only does 2 mornings a week and she can't wait to come back, know she can't do a lot at the moment but I could fill my days twice over, all that glueing, crochet and reading to do :D oh and housework

Plan for this evening is to wrap some presents so they can go under the tree, this will leave the top of the wardrobes free for the other presents that we are taking down with us on Christmas day. Have had another addition to our early Christmas meal for OH's kids, DSS2 has now got a GF who he bought over to meet us at the weekend, (very nice and friendly girl, reminded me so much of when DD was that age and we always had a housefull of girls) so have had to do some more silly chocolate bars and make her up a hamper type pressie, she is getting the same as the other DSS's GF.

Funnily enough, it seemed to be thawing on the way home tonight, very strange as forecast was for very cold again, my fear is temperature will now suddenly drop and it will be an ice rink again tomorrow morning. Got beeped at by a car for walking in the road this morning, he slowed down and told me to get off the road! pointed out to him it wasn't me that shovelled all the snow from the road onto the pavement and would he like to walk in 4 ft of snow? he didn't answer, just drove off :rotfl:

Right, better get off and actually do what I said. Have a good evening xxx

NPM another one here with fingers crossed that your parents can make it xxx

  • Evening all,

Well, my day started badly, got a bit better, then by 2pm fell to pieces

It was -15 here last night, so the car was properly frozen over this morning. Went to start it as I had a lunch date with a friend, and it wouldn't start! Not the battery as it was turning over fine, just not firing. After bribing the local garage mechanic to come and have a look at it, it finally manyaged to start, but took 30 minutes to thaw out!

Had a shower and was just getting ready to go when I could hear dripping. Looked at the boiler as sure enough there was water running out of the bottom. Called British Gas who said that it wasn't an emergency so could come until tomorrow. Called the local gas bloke who told me what was wrong with the boiler, but couldn't fix it faster :(

So, no lunch date was cancelled, and logs were ordered for the wood burner; I had to borrow the money foo my parents for this as we just don't have the cash at present and haven't had all year, hence no stock of logs. The log bloke was brilliant and delivered within 30 minutes of my call as he knew I had no CH.

So, with a HUGE pile of logs outside the house, I tried to call OH's friend to see if he could help me. He's not returned the call yet...
In the end, my mum ended up coming out to help me, and it took us 3 hours to carry the logs in and stack them in the back yard.

Needless to say, that tea tonight was simple and consisted of Quorn fillets and mixed veg from the freezer. The house is cold and i'm sat under a duvet in the living room where the log burner is. I'm stiff and sore, and am meant to be going to do a charity visit tomorrow, but am not looking forward to it as I'm so tired and cold and a bit down.

Oh and the dog's under the weather. I have no idea what's wrong with her as she's fine and excited when she goes out, has a cold wet nose, a good appetite and sleeps well.

On the up side, OH saw Africa's largest crocodile today. So that's alright then. :p

Ah well, it could be worse I suppose; I could have no fire at all, or be homeless.

Hope everyone is managing to stay warm, and hugs to those that need them.

    T xx

Still cold here and the pavements are even more slippery now the snow has frozen.Am really fed up with wearing my walking boots each day.I've got so many layers on I feel like Michelin man.

It was one of my charity shop days but there wasn't much to do as people aren't bringing stuff in due to the weather.I got a nice lot of tidying done.

Our Amazon order came today. DH is fuming as he'd ordered a DVD for his niece but his mother phoned him at work to say that his niece doesn't want that DVD any more!

I think this weather is bringing a lot of people down, things are much harder arent they. It was minus 14 here last night, minus ten walking to work, my face was absolutely aching by the time I got there. Thank goodness I have great walking boots, they are 5 years old but by jings they have been worth it, possibly this will be the last year that I will get wear from then. Will keep an eye out for ones in the sale, not much o/s today as not really doing anything at all!!!!! I could really kill for a sweetie just now but the thought of a trek through 8 inch of snow at minu 8 dampens that want!!!!
well away to cosy in with a hot water bottle and write my christmas cards,
take care folks and stay safe,

Fun day at work, work kids in great mood and we just hung out rather than do lots of 'actual' work :rotfl:

Met girls for dinner after work, went to Toby Carvery. I am veggie but love the carvery :rotfl: the veg is the best bit anyways.

Then I've been finishing off uni assignment - it needs to be in a portfolio so I've just been putting it together.
NPM is it possible if the parents can't make it you can SKYPE them so that they can still be part of your day? xxxx

NPM - Or does the venue have a live webcam they can watch on it they can't make it down?

    Have a good evening all
