Morning all, woke up thinking it was sunday and smiled, realised it was tuesday and sunday is very far away... Boring, busy day of uni work. And cleaning downstairs, and washing, but at least it's not snowing! Well everyone says there's frost, but I haven't looked outside yet!
My job finally told me that I'll be working xmas eve, probably until 1pm. If they'd just told me this a week ago the train would have been a reasonable amount, now it's minimum £30 just to get home!! The coach would be horrific- imagine the traffic out of london on xmas!! I was tempted to quit and finish on the 24th. Imagine if it does snow at christmas? I'd cry if I was stuck in the flat alone for christmas, eating tinned fish huddled round a pair of straighteners for warmth LOL!Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
Morning All
Very cold here, -11! All the schools in our area are closed thank goodness, don't think I could cope with another journey like yesterdays.
Quite weird having a paid day off, not sure what I should do apart from watching daytime tv (Homes under the Hammer!). Need to get to the post office some time but will wait and see if the weather clears as there is freezing fog here as well as all the snow and frost. Will also need to get to the sorting office as we haven't had a postal delivery for over a week and DS1s car tax should be in there somewhere, hope he doesn't get stopped. Should be ok as he has the receipt to say he has paid but the usual 5 days has passed!!
Have already hoovered round and dusted the big room, the log burner can be a bit messy but looks lovely now and is doing a grand job in this cold spell.
Have a good day everyone, hope the poorlies and fed ups are feeling better. Take care XX0 -
Morning - I am normally in work so dont get a chance to do much posting during the day.
I am off work sick at the moment - very heavy cold (possibly the flu as I feel so rotten but hate people who say they have the flu and they dont). I have been ill since the end of last week but I am now down to sinusitis and a very achy exhausted body.
It is sooooo cold here this morning - heating is on but I am sooooo chilly - better than last night when OH caught me standing with the front door open in just my jammies as I was too hot!!!! I was desperate to go out for a wee walk but it was minus 10 here!
I have no energy at the moment and the house looks like it has been burgled - I wouldnt mind but we have family coming to stay next week and there is not one room in the house that doesnt need gutting (we have just had building work done so everything is covered in thick plaster dust). OH is back at work as he had this last week (share and share alike eh?) but he is soooo exhausted as soon as he comes home he has his tea and goes to bed.
Wish I could afford to hire a cleaner!!!
How is everyone else today?0 -
DS had a meltdown last night thought they were supposed to get better with age OH annoyed me as he really isnt understanding aspergers just says he is naughty
Well my experience so far is the older DS gets the more issues we come acrossHad a meltdown off him this morning (apologies to my neighbour it was 6.30am ) because I had the audacity to get DD dressed before him  I told him to put his pants etc on and he wouldn't - well I ain't hanging around for him. Cue LOTS of screaming any crying. I really owe my neighbour a LARGE bottle of something alcoholic!
No advice re your H - is it a question that your H can't recognise the difference between a AS meltdown and just typical bad behaviour?
Good morning my lovelies

OK it's not being seen as a winter wonderland for those of you struggling in the snow but it was for Doris Day
Minus 10 this morning :eek::eek: My little finger went numb pushing the pushchair to school :eek: Heating won't switch off as frost thermostat has kicked in so it must be bloomin' cold! Looks very pretty (thanks for the link Molly - now I know what to call it!) According to BBC weather it's supposed to be thick fog. Hello?! It's blue sky and gorgeous sunshine here........no wonder the Scottish Government are blaming inaccurate weather reports
Got the filling for a cottage pie in the SC and need to make a cake later. No real plans, might take my mum out somewhere later as she's feeling a little stressed at the moment.
Tru - I love the Coke ads thanks for that!
NPM - Hope everything is falling into place for you and that you're not too stressed due to the weather. thinking of you
Bargainbird - where are you my lovely? Everything OK?

I stalked bargainbird, she hasn't been logged in since 27th November. Morning all,
Mioliere -sorry to hearabout your BIL-hope he's ok.
NPM-thinking about you and the wedding a lot,and hoping your parents get there-lots of positive vibes winging your way.
Hope all our Scottish posters are ok-looks horrendous.Glad you got home safe Jackie.
We've got hoar frost too( thanks Molly). Its bright and sunny at the moment, the trees look absolutely beautiful. My menfolk have gone off to work in the empty unheated factory again, with flask, sandwiches etc.DS1 has thermal longjohns underneath,we should get some more. They did come home a bit earlier than normal, all had a hot shower to thaw out,and attacked the chicken roasties etc, then apple pie and custard. Then unfortunately DH had to go to a meeting on the other side of town about the job they are due to start in the new year, took about 3 hrs altogether.
Nearly got all the cards done-will finish that today, and some more sewing.I'm going to do a Christmas plan too-I feel like I'm way behind on my preps-2 weeks being ill didnt help, and not getting out very much due to weather.

Morning OSers,
Really is a winter wonderland here! Thick fog last night made a perfect cover for Mr Jack Frost to pay us a visit! Looks beautiful...but at -8 im glad DD is having another day off sick. Same as yesterday terrible cough, sore throat and high temp tho she did get some sleep last night shame shes missing her christmas play and school christmas dinner today she is quite upset about it:(
Mums freezer broke down yesterday so she popped some sauages down (apparently 3 packs defrosted) so sausage, egg and chips for lunch and DD is voting pasta with HM tomato sauce for tea.
Not sure what i have planned OS wise today so think i'll just play it by ear.
Hugs to all who need or just want one. Keep warm xEmergency Savings #73 = £1,500/£2,000

Morning all, bright and sunny here although very cold its just nice to see a bit of sunshine .Did the school run then popped to the local savacentre in Hempstead for a mooch around.Managed to get a huge 460gm piece of best 21 day matured sirloin steak at just over £4.00 reduced from 9.99.plus a nice bacon and leek quiche reduced to 90p from 2.50 so lunch is well taken care of as I'll have some quiche and salad for lunch and some steak for dinner tonight I have cut the steak in half and frozen the other bit.I bought some charlotte potatos to go with it so I shall have a very nice dinner tonight that hasn't cost the earth. There was a class of local school children singing and collecting for our local childrens hospice in the centre and it made one feel very christmassy.Only spent £11 in total as I gave the change from my shopping to a dear little girl with a huge smile to put into her bucket.Just going to sit and watch catch up corrie in a minute as I missed it last night because I was at Uni.Hope everyone is havinga good day.I saw how dreadful the snow was on morning t.v. this morning its cold enough for me when its -4 or 5c how do you cope when its -15.I think I would hibernate until the spring.
take care all and keep warm as possible
