Not all companies do it - it's up to them but if you think about it, if it's a big organisation (say NHS, banks etc) and they have a few hundred people with a DEO then they can get a few hundred quid a month for basically not doing that much.
It's meant to be for admin costs.

Yes, it WAS a big company and only a £1 each time but the situation was that originally I was paying 2 weeks in advance all the time when 'on time' is supposed to be the norm, so I asked the CSA to move the payment date and they refused point blank, so I cancelled one payment to bring it 2 weeks into arrears instead, that was enough for them to waste taxpayers money getting an attachment to earnings order after one week had elapsed into arrears: note: they were informed I intended to change the payment dates and had never had a default before so they weren't in any doubt the debt would be paid!
The irony was that they took a further two payments from me after my Son turned 16 and left full time education and took nearly 3 months to pay it back, pity I couldn't get an attachment to their earnings at someone elses cost immediately!Unless specifically stated all posts by me are my own considered opinion.
If you don't like my opinion feel free to respond with your own.0 -

MiketheBike it's a case of lesson learned so be prepared for the future. Open a bank account overseas and outside the EU and don't make transactions in or out from a UK account.0

Thanks Bob. Along similar Lines, I was told by bank staff that if I keep my account in overdraft mode the CSA can't take anything because it's not my money, it's the bank's.
Also the CSA cant do anything while I have an appeal going on, so I make sure I always have an appeal going on. They certainly keep me fed with enough cockups to appeal about and the tribunal service drag things out, so all in my favour really.0 -

Is this a CONSPIRACY???
What can it mean?
It can mean that you are not in the 'clique', don't worry about that too much
I'm not the 'gang's' favourite visitor here, but in their defence, I can never fathom why anybody dontates CS to the ex directly, only leaves doors open for further problems as you are experiencing.
Remember no child is going to die or starve to death through lack of CS dontation in the UK.
Pay via the CSA the cost is no different to you, and your ex is an ex for a reason remember?

My case closed 18 months ago when our son reached his 19th birthday.
My ex and I get on well enough and we both make sure the boy wants for nothing.
The irony is that since April this year it is actually encouraged to have a private arrangement and the absent parent can give unlimited money to PWC without her losing benefits.
Also ironically the Csa did my assessments for the last decade all at once in may this year.
Cue emotional comments from ladies collecting thank you points.........0 -

I have problems currently with the electrics in my house - I have had three quotes to sort it - the lowest of which is £650. I can't afford that. So we have no overhead lights in the bedrooms and no lighting in the bathroom at the current time - and I am running the risk of losing lights elsewhere. My ex pays no maintenance. If he did, I might stand a cat in hells chance of getting it fixed this side of summer. No child ever died? Hope you don't have to eat those words if my electrics go into major meltdown....0 -
Can't really help with your predicament immediately but I would seriously consider either closing the bank account and opening a new one and NOT giving the CSA a DD permission or cancelling their DD at your bank -if possible-sometimes the bank will refuse (see point 1 below). If they have applied via the courts to remove money from your bank, they can trace the account so that will fail.
About 12 years ago & a few years of paying maintenance quite happily the CSA got involved and put my contributions up 5 x overnight.
I took advice from 'Families need fathers' and would urge anyone who has been assessed or is likely to, to google them and take their very knowledgable tips.
i.e.
1.NEVER, EVER sign over a standing order or direct debit, as: as the CSA are well known for removing cash from accounts whether owed or not, make all payments by Bank Giro Credit personally, they will supply slips for you to do this.
Always pay on time however as they can and will get attachments for earnings even for as little as a weeks delay, your employer can (and most do) make a charge for administering these payments just to add insult to injury, and they have no power to refuse CSA requests for payment! If standing order, they can't remove money from the account - the bank send the money, it is different.
The Irony is that the CSA are also VERY well known (and I have experience of that!) for taking monies that they are not entitled to and taking months to pay it back, with no interest, compensation or apology either!
2.NEVER give them a telephone number they can contact you on, or they can & will then harass you at home.
3.NEVER give them original documentation, they lose documents and then claim you never sent them! (again this is all too common!)
Take all original documents to the local benefits office and have them make a 'certified copy' and send them internally, that way you keep the originals and they cannot claim they didn't get them either!
I have no time for those who shirk their payments deliberately, but after being upfront and open and always paying my way I also have no time for the CSA or the current (or past) way it treated me and others: IME it goes after the easy, honest targets and is sometimes manipulated by cynical benefits thieves to obtain a CSA order initially.

Your electrics are not going to meltdown though , many complain that what they get is not enough, so it won't help with your electrics either :eek:0
